Steven Souza Jr. played the field in extended spring training for the second straight day today. Playing the field seems to be the final step for him. Said if he was still in the AL, “he could have been DH-ing a long time ago.” #DBacks

Steven Souza Jr. said his rehab has been frustrating because if he were in the AL, he’d be playing. He said he’s had no problems hitting.

Torey Lovullo said Steven Souza Jr. joked that he should be the Extended Spring Training Player of the Month. There is no award for that, unfortunately.

OFFICIAL: #Dbacks purchase the contract of RHP Kris Medlen from the Triple-A Reno @Aces.

In corresponding moves, Silvino Bracho is optioned to Reno and Taijuan Walker is transferred to the 60-day DL.

The D-backs have sent Kris Medlen back to Reno after his disappointing performance. And have called up Braden Shipley, who is available for relief today in Game 2 vs. the Astros.
