Bring up Sherfy! He sucked in the playoffs but in the regular season he did better. I like him more than freaking Bracho.

I cannot understand the benefit of Bracho running his pitching hand in circles while looking for the sign.

Steve and BB comment every time they see a batter making all sorts of movements at home plate while waiting for the pitch. They say the less moving parts, the better.

Does anyone have an idea why Bracho, who looks like a Little Leaguer as it is, does that? It doesn't portray an aura of confidence. But then, neither do his spotty performances.

We're really hurting for middle inning relief. Every one of them is inconsistent and world's apart from the quality of our starters and big-3 closing relievers. I hope the GM will address that issue.

Jake Lamb could head out on a rehab assignment “in the coming days” if all goes as planned, #DBacks manager Torey Lovullo said.

#Dbacks recall RHP Jimmie Sherfy from the Triple-A Reno @Aces. Following yesterday’s game, the D-backs optioned RHP Troy Scribner to Reno.

Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Could throw bullpen session soon
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Ray (oblique) threw from about 60 feet off flat ground Saturday, the Associated Press reports.

Ray is expected to extend his distance over the next few days before being cleared to resume mound work. While Ray seems to be taking tangible steps forward in his recovery from the strained right oblique, the Diamondbacks have yet to unveil a target date for the the lefty's return.

Dealing with a right oblique strain, Ray threw out to 90 feet on Monday and told Lovullo he felt good.

Lamb had five at-bats as a designated hitter on Monday in an extended spring training game, doubling in one of them and saying he generally felt good too.

Lamb gets Tuesday off before joining the Visalia Rawhide in Lancaster later in the week, as he continues to work back from a shoulder issue.

Just think where we'd be now if . . .

-- we hadn't lost Souza and Lamb to injury
-- we hadn't lost two starting pitchers we planned on
-- Goldschmidt and Avila had provided the power we expected

It is amazing that we have been in 1st place as long as we have,
thanks to the starting pitchers we do have
And the big 3 closing relievers
And Pollock, Peralta and Descalso

It is a long season. I expect that we will rebound at some point
and be a playoff team this season.

Unless we lose more key players to injury. That is always a variable.

Now, are they going to use Walker or give him one or two at-bats per week or let him prove himself?

You can't replace Pollock's newfound power with a singles hitter?

Ray (oblique) increased his throwing distance off flat ground to 90 feet Monday, Justin Toscano of MLB.com reports.

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo observed Ray's throwing session and noted that the lefty said he "felt good" afterward. The Diamondbacks are hopeful that Ray will be able to resume throwing off a mound in the near future, which would leave open the possibility for him to come off the 10-day disabled list before the end of the month.

Souza (pectoral) has yet to resume baseball activities since landing on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.

The Diamondbacks haven't issued a firm timetable for Souza's return from the DL after he aggravated the right pectoral strain that sidelined him about a month and a half earlier this season, but his lack of activity suggests he'll at least be sidelined for more than the minimum amount of time. Since Souza's latest shutdown, Chris Owings has served as the primary replacement in right field, drawing five starts at the position to Socrates Brito's one.

Diamondbacks' Randall Delgado: Pitches in extended spring game
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Delgado (shoulder) threw 11 pitches in an extended spring training game Friday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

The Diamondbacks will wait and see how Delgado feels a day or two after the outing before determining his next step. Assuming Delgado reports no renewed soreness in his shoulder, he could restart a minor-league rehab assignment at some point during the upcoming week and return from the 10-day disabled list as soon as mid-June.
