Dead serious. This more or less insured Sendek's return and means yet another decade of no one caring about ASU basketball. Have you seen who Sendek has coming in next year? The class is hot garbage, and ASU is shedding Marshall and Bachynski. Jahii Carson might stay now, but only because he's fallen so far from last year. ASU will be a bottom-of-the-conference team next year (and into the foreseeable future, but Sendek will have a nice contract extension for his effort.
This is Sendek's 8th season. If he gets to the tournament, it will be only his second trip since he's been here. If one trip to the tournament every four years is our heightened standard (barely getting in, I might add), I'm not even sure why we pretend to put money into this program. That is bad basketball. It's the kind of program that DRIVES AWAY money, not brings it in.
You can celebrate this win, but very few people will remember it in a month. But we will still be who we are, and Sendek will still be who is. I was hoping for change. Instead, I get more of the same.
