Big win although we made it much to close in the 2nd half. If we had lost, it could have been a disaster after being up by 20 at the half with UofA next on the schedule. It would have had the potential to send us into a downward spiral. But we gutted it out just like @Cal and vs OSU.

Seriously? For a team that is borderline tourney-eligible? That is kind of sad.

Odd. Reporters at the game were tweeting out that they thought it was about 10k.

I was there and thought it was bigger than the average asu crowd. Maybe 8 to 9 K.

Man, the students almost ruined this game for ASU. Great win, this should get them in the tourney now.

Biggest win at home in ASU history.

crazy game tonight

getting ready the final play

good commentary on the PA about why they didn't call a T on the dunk .... idiotic finish

didn't they have a premature thing like that during an UA football game a couple years back?

wow! - great look at a 3 there ... would have been bedlam if that fell

good win for ASU - not pretty but good

Crazy game. Double OT. Leaving time on the clock after a block and a steal. Crowd rushing the court early. Last second three pointer clangs off the rim. ASU with their biggest upset in a long time. They make the tourney with that win barring a collapse to end the season.

As long as the Devils win a couple more this has to make them a lock for the tourney?

Right?

Jermaine Marshall has made the Devils a tourney team. What a different team they are with him in the lineup,

He makes a huge difference... However, the difference in talent between the Devils and UofA was so clear to see... And yet, the Devils just wouldn't be denied the W. Bachinski was huge. Carson had a terrible game. Really, no other Devil played well other than Bachinski and Marshall. And even Marshall disappeared - literally - for most of the OT...

Right?

They still need to get to 20 wins. And even then, if UofA continues to play poorly, the Devils won't be a lock.... It they lose to Oregon State and Utah, it definitely won't be a lock...

Best game I've ever attended! I suffered through so many of those games but it made this one so sweet!

Think we need to get to 21 wins to have a decent shot. 22 is nearly a lock. Such a huge win.

Probably the worst thing to happen to ASU basketball in 20 years.

Well, we'd all love to see them steamrolling teams for sure.

But, several of these last few games, Cal, Ore St, Ore, they would've definitely lost the past three or four years. In all of those games, it was Marshall making the biggest baskets at crunch time. Obviously, we are nowhere near a top program like UofA, but damn it, we won today and we will make the tourney!

Both Lunardi and Palm have us as a #10 right now. Best spot we've been in this late in the season in a long time. Yeah, we could turd out like last year, but I like these two seniors leading the way right now.

Dead serious. This more or less insured Sendek's return and means yet another decade of no one caring about ASU basketball. Have you seen who Sendek has coming in next year? The class is hot garbage, and ASU is shedding Marshall and Bachynski. Jahii Carson might stay now, but only because he's fallen so far from last year. ASU will be a bottom-of-the-conference team next year (and into the foreseeable future, but Sendek will have a nice contract extension for his effort.

This is Sendek's 8th season. If he gets to the tournament, it will be only his second trip since he's been here. If one trip to the tournament every four years is our heightened standard (barely getting in, I might add), I'm not even sure why we pretend to put money into this program. That is bad basketball. It's the kind of program that DRIVES AWAY money, not brings it in.

You can celebrate this win, but very few people will remember it in a month. But we will still be who we are, and Sendek will still be who is. I was hoping for change. Instead, I get more of the same.

I totally get what you're saying. I just wasn't sure which side of the Herb debate you were coming from. Most of the ASU boards I read have people saying things like what you said, only sarcastically to call out the Herb "haters" who have been on him for so long.

I wanted Herb gone last year and probably the year before. I really want to stop this cycle of getting one top level player (Diogu, Harden, Carson) and making the tournament once only to fall back to irrelevancy. But I've already accepted that he's coming back next year so I'm going to be happy we just beat #2 UofA. I've sat through too many heartbreaking losses to them to not take joy from it.

I just hope they don't give him another bad extension like Love did.

The Sun Devils finally get a signature win and it's suddenly given a negative slant. I came to the forum this morning to enjoy the win. Now I'm hearing ASU is hot garbage. No wonder the fans do not come out.
