My "neglecting the defense" comment is based on the fact that we have no NFL-caliber CBs, which is something Green always struggled with in Minn.
Berry is definitely an upgrade. But Starks is always hurt, Rhinehart isn't very good, Hill would be a better nickel corner, and Macklin didn't even start in Indy.
Gonna have a hard time shutting down the Rams with that backfield.
What would consist of an NFL caliber CB? All reports indicate that Duane Starks is near 100%. At or near his best, he is a good number one, excellent number two. I was never high on Renaldo Hill, but he improved significantly last year, and was more than servicable. Again, to judge any corners with the pass rush in the last two years is worthless. Let's see what kind of outside rush Berry will provide. I also think that Bryant and Dockett have the potential to have breakout years as well. I find it quite hard to believe the apocalypse is upon this team. I guess we'll see what happens.....
