Great win, but they will be gassed for tomorrow.

Why? At that age, it's just not that tough to play back to backs, even if the first one is an OT game. As long as they get a full day's break in between games it's usually not a problem. Also, unlike the Bruins, ASU shooters have now had a game to adjust to the arena which can be huge. I like their chances.

I think they match up well, but that was an emotional slug-fest. Yes, they can recover, but it isn't ideal.

It's pretty funny, I think UofA fans will be rooting for ASU since they obviously don't see ASU as a threat... And lets be honest, not much can make them at this point...

But Basketball is all about the match ups, and ASU matched up very well against UCLA, now lets see what kind of difference the other wear brother makes...

I agree on both sides as far as which ASU team will show up, will it be a gassed team that has been WILDLY inconsistent the entire year, or will it be the motivated scrappy, high energy team that survived against a VERY game Stanford team, with the benefit of playing on this court a court where no one has played before...

I truthfully don't know which way it will go, I just know ASU has to beat UCLA and the UofA/CO to make it to the championship ti even have a PRAYER at being selected for an at large bid..

And for the record given the way the rest of the bubble teams have played, a three straight wins against Stanford/UCLA/UofA would give ASU a solid argument to be in the field even if they lose the championship...

It all starts at noon... I will be in meetings all afternoon so I will get to check the score after, this will be the first ASU game I have missed whether it was in person or on TV, no bigger, they have struggled regardless I am no good luck charm...

Go devils!

I also want to give major props to Jahii Carson, I have been a big fan, and one of his harshest critics this season...

But today in the big light he had his best game of his career... The washington game was good, today's game was SPECIAL...

Now if you could just do that the next 9 games without losing, that would be terrific!

Not asking too much is it?!

As a UCLA fan the big concern beyond matchups is Shabazz at home in Vegas deciding he's going to take over and maybe shooting UCLA out of the game.

Hopefully he's not jacking up bad shots and if he is, hopefully Ben actually pulls him this time as opposed to some of the recent games where he didn't.

Is something wrong with Bachynski? Barely played yesterday and reports are he's not warming up with the team for the game that starts in 40 minutes.

I am just watching ESPN's "gamecast", but he has 7 points. I guess he is ok

Yeah he apparently came out real late. Wish he'd stayed in the lockerrom he's killing us.

Carson needs to go pro, I don't want to see that guy anymore he's too damn quick.

It's not just that ASU is a horrible matchup for us. We aren't big enough for that size and Ben doesn't like to play zone so we can't guard Carson and we can't stop them inside.

All 3 games have been tough matchups, the first 2 Travis didn't play, this one it doesn't matter he's playing, Bachynski is killing him.

Huge putback by Bazz though 8 is a big mental edge over 10 at half.

Typically they try to make a quick push to start, if UCLA doesn't close the lead in the firts 4 minutes they're in big trouble because Bazz and Adams will start jacking 3's.

Boy did I call that right, UCLA shooting themselves right out of it with quick shots from Adams and Bazz

If you're gonna choke, please send it to overtime so you can run these clowns into the ground.

Can Herb use his leftover timeouts during the NIT game? Not like his clearly gassed team needed a blow or anything in the last five minutes.

That's why you want to have a bye fatigue was huge in this game.

Drew was amazing, really stupid 4th foul looks like game over and then he comes back and goes off.

So I was totally wrong, usually UCLA tries to make a quick run and if they don't, it's over. Today they didn't, got down 15, and then didn't give up and won it.

ASU obviously tired.

Love Carson hope he turns pro so we don't ever have to guard him again.

Kind of a punk move by Felix at the end there but I can see being frustrated.

A fitting end to the season, not being able to close out a game, per usual.

We actually won quite a few close games this year. We lost some too but we were rarely involved in blowouts either way.

It came down to a lack of depth and talent though.

Don't forget to throw in the bone headed coaching moves a few times during the year...

I don't think Herb did a bad job, but he is getting credit by a lot of alumni and media like he acutally had success...

Bottom line, ASU imploded down the stretcha dn outside a few glimpses of what what could be, they are a middle of the pack NIT team.. will end up with a 3 or 4 seed...

That should be met with a "ok it is a tiny step in the right direction" and certainly not "Herb got this thing turned around great coaching job this year"

Because since Sendek got here in 2006: We have finished last 3 times, 9th this year, 5th one time, third one time, and second one time.. Herb's conference record: 44-64...

And that to the fact that his assistents are FLEEING TO OTHER POSITIONS, tells you all you need to know about Sendek hopefully capsized ship...

Made the tourney one time.. just so below par... need to seriously consider a new direction...

I agree with all of that. But he'll be here next year because of his contract.

Indeed. However, maybe losing to UCLA helps make next year Herbs last. I've tried to be as positive about Sendek as I can for a long time, but now Ive seen enough. ASU needs a guy who can be a great recruiter, and not just occasionally have 1 excellent player here.

It seems ASU always has 1 star player who's good enough to get you excited, but not enough help for that player to be a serious program (i.e. Carson, Harden,House, Ike, etc).

If Herb would've taken ASU to the tourney next year, it would've likely have meant he would've stayed around beyond next year. Next year, unless Evan Gordon has a breakout season, it looks like ASU will likely take a step back because of the loss of Felix. Bachynski should improve, as will Carson if he returns, but they need a solid 3rd guy and I don't know who that would be at the moment.

So if next year is NIT or worse, then I think Sendek is probably gone for sure.
