That was a crazy game. Ugly for most of it.

Herb made one of the dumbest substitutions I think I've ever seen. We were up 2 with 10 seconds left and he took out Bachynski for Bo Barnes. I could understand if we were up 3, but we were only up 2. Colorado of course got a wide open dunk to send it to OT.

Luckily we pulled it out. They haven't quite pulled the plug on our tourney hopes just yet. Still going to be really tough but there's a faint pulse.

He actually subbed Bachynski out for Gilling..

The 5 on the floor the last 30 seconds was Carson, Colvin, Gordon, Felix, and Gilling..

It clearly killed us when Colorado was simply able to get to the rim and score, but it helped us because that area of the floor Gordon was able to get to would have been occupied by Bachynski and therefor no lay up...

Questionable decision for sure, but it helped when the Devils needed it most..

I was referring to the end of regulation, not OT

ohhh gotcha.. yup, he did the same thing in OT, maybe it is just a rotation thing inside of a minute Bachynski comes out of the game...

This reminds me of the 89/90 season with Ike and Alex Austin, Mark Becker, Matt Autin, Emory Lewis, etc. That was a very competitive team that won some games but finished under .500 against a half-decent schedule.

I was actually able to get clarification from Eric Musselman via twitter about said play..

Here is what he said

"Ryan we went small so we could switch pick and rolls. As Colorado had Roberson as 5 and had him setting pick on PNR. Felix on AR"

Also said they had been getting killed on the PNR late in the game wanted to make them shoot over them..

Great win for the Devils tonight, half decent crown considering the late start and weather conditions...

Wazzu made a late push, but of all things FREE THROWS (15-18) sealed the deal for the Sun Devils tonight...

Another must win Saturday in the final home game of the season...

Go Devils!

Also an interesting story that happend tonight at Wells Fargo Arena..

The Student section in honor or former Arizona State great James Harden word "beards" and stayed completely silent until the Devils hit 13 points...

When they did the place ERUPTED it was as loud as I have heard a student section in any college forum...

And as if it were written for Hollywood, James Harden puts up a career high 46 points and led the Rockets to a huge win over OKC..

Awesome all the way around..

I heard about this on the radio. Genius idea! Unique way to honor Harden.

I like that they are being organized and creative but I hope they don't do that again. The place was dead for the first 10 minutes of the game.

Devils lose.. This loss hurts way more than the Utah loss, I was hopeful after the Utah loss, This one just seems like it sealed ASU's fate...

Hello NIT, once again missed Free Throws (8-15) and Jahii Carson's continued spiral (3-14) has led the Devils' demise

Need to win a minimum of 2 of the last three combined with at least 2 wins in the PAC-12 tourney to even have a chance.. and with the way Carson is playing, they have no chance anyway..

There's always next year..

UW is a tough matchup for us. They play a lot bigger than us. Our centers are taller but theirs are much bigger and more athletic. They've killed us on the boards in both games.

Their guards are also significantly taller than ours. It makes it tough to get good shots off.

The DePaul and Utah losses are more damning for your résumé than UW. Turn those into Ws and your RPI is ~50. Now, it's 88.

The PAC tourney is wide open this season. I can see one of USC, ASU, or CAL getting hot and taking it all.

I'm guessing you left Oregon, Arizona and UCLA off that list because they are obvious favorites but I'd also throw UW into the mix. They certainly have enough talent to win the tourney despite their up and down season. If Artis is back I'd handicap the tourney this way:

Arizona
Oregon
California
UCLA
Washington
Arizona State
Colorado
Stanford
Southern Cal
Utah
Oregon State
Washington State

I don't think there's much to separate the first 5 although any of the next 4 is capable of beating any team in the Pac tourney. Still, I'd be very surprised if the winner didn't come from the UA, Cal, UCLA, UW or Oregon group.

Looks like Carson could be turning pro based on his latest tweet.

I can't see him leaving unless he just doesn't like school or isn't doing well in the classroom.

Probably this one:

https://twitter.com/Jahii_carson1/status/304847828163915776

I think he may have just been quoting some lyrics. His very next tweet:

He tweets sh#t like that all the time.. He called himself "like Lebron James to to lames"

"Got my goons ridden, bet u 1000 u ain't even know how I ridden"

And that isn't a 10th of the stupid things he says..

He probably shouldn't have a twitter account, but alas we are in those days..

He is an absolute fool if he declares after the kind of tail spin he has been on since playing @Wash (with the exception of Col and WSU).. Not sure if the PAC-12 has caught up to him and the game plan is out, but he gets blocked in the lane about 3-4 times every game, it's getting ridiculous... He is just soo small

We will see how it plays out, but I can't imagine he declares this season..

If Jarryd Bayless can declare, anyone can. Carson is dumb enough to chase the money this offseason but he should see why Bayless has been a non-factor in the NBA.

This issue there again, they have pretty similar games, except Bayless was a much better shooter, and Carson is a much better ball handler passer...

Carson by all accounts is 5'9 MAX, most people in the program think he may even be closer to 5'8..

Bayless is listed at 6'3.. the fact that Bayless topped out being a reserve player for a playoff team should raise huge red flags for Carson and his bid to jump...

But the more I speak with those around him, the more convinced i get that he is going to make a poor decision whether that is this year or next year.. either way he won't stay his Jun/Senior season, and that is unfortunate for him and the program...

It's actually somewhat smart for him to explore. The talent around him is going to be awful so he's pretty much going to be double and triple teamed for most of the year. I do think he'll come back for another year though.

Looks like ASU gets a break again with UCLA, Travis Wear HIGHLY unlikely to play. Severe sprain of the right foot/ankle, might not play against UA either.

Sure hope UCLA guards the post a little better this time.

That was Bachynski's last good game. He's been playing really weak since then. Maybe he can get it going again against you guys.
