Obafemi Ayanbadejo:

2004: $535,000
2005: $540,000

Bertrand Berry:

2004: $4 million
2005: $4 million
2006: $4 million
2007: $4 million
2008: $4 million

Shaun King:

2004: $850,000
2005: $850,000

So, I can assume Berry will count 4 mil against the cap...if so that is an awesome deal!

Cap hit is base salary + prorated signing bonus. If if he did get a $5 million bonus, his cap hit would be $5 million each year of the contract.

Berry will count 5 mil a year against the cap.

That sounds high, but the key is the bonus. Let's say he totally flames out. Well, we can cut him next year and actually clear 1 mil in cap space.

These are smart contracts.

Personally, I'm ticked that the Cards caved and gave a crazy, cap-busting escalator like that!
