Had a very clutch performance today in the Mavs win over the Warriors.

Both have been putting up good #s this season.

Yeah. Can't people like both guys I think both will be all stars eventually.

Doncic at this point is more polished he's a been a pro for a few years now and Big men need guys to get them the ball something we are really lacking

it seems like Ayton is about 2 years behind Doncic in experience.
Doncic will probably win ROY as predicted
he scores more than predicted but is assisting less and with more turnovers

Ayton will likely never be as polished as Doncic
but i believe Ayton has more upside as a game-changer

Most reasonable people expected Doncic to be better right away. Outside of the crowd that hates white European players, everyone understood that Doncic was already an outstanding player and a much better player than Ayton right now.
I am not at all surprised that he is playing as well as he is. Truth be told, he looks a lot like Booker out there.

That said, Ayton is exceeding all reasonable expectations for a seven-footer at his age. I thought he was going to be very raw and essentially useless in his first season. He is playing very well, and some of his skills are far more advanced than I expected (shooting, passing, low post moves, rebounding).

I realize these guys are the same age, but Doncic has been a pro since he was 13 years old. It would be shocking if he wasn't better than Ayton in his first year. I am guessing that each year the gap will close a bit, and they both end up being All-Stars.
You can't teach Ayton's size, quickness, athleticism, and honestly, his basketball IQ is actually very high for a kid that young, so I am quite happy with Ayton on the roster.

They are the two best players in the draft like many of us thought. I'm happy with our guy. You can't teach size!

I really thought Doncic would not only put up good individual stats but make a team gel more. I'm glad we have Ayton though..just get us a quality pg and our team will shine.

Definitely Booker. He is a proven commodity, and he is as good of a scorer as I have ever seen.

The ROY race will come down to the wire. I think the Mavs having a much better record will help Doncic some but Ayton's raw stats should be overall better than Luka.

Now would you guys rather have Doncic or Booker?
Booker but it's close for me especially if Doncic continues to improve defensively like he has already this season.

Pretty incredible how he makes this look effortless. Especially the ease with which he seems to get the shot off with.

Luka seems to have a thing for heaves at the end of the quarter. I know that is one thing Luka supporters pointed to while trying to explain his low 3pt shooting stats and I thought it was a bit unusual for 1 player to have so many heaves in 1 season to effect there 3pt percentage by a good margin but that shot is basically a heave, it's too far to be considered otherwise IMO. Basketball-Reference is slow to update usually and they don't have that game on there yet but they don't have any other heaves for him this year so I'm not sure how often he's done it in the NBA but I saw a Youtube video around the draft that someone made that showed over 20 heaves, I believe he made 2, to help push the "heaves hurt his 3pt percentage" narrative. I'll try to find that video again and if I do I'll post it here.

I’ll give him props for not caring about his individual stats in a time and age when most players hold the ball and then chuck it after hearing the buzzer so as not to hurt their %s.

Yeah some players have a certain % they have to meet to earn additional revenue built into their contracts.

Yeah Ayton hasn’t done anything near that, even in as much of small span as that. Like even a block followed by a slam followed by tough rebound followed by another slam. I mean have we even gotten a little spurt to get excited about like that?
