It can't be earth. This is not the 1970's anymore. The whole Cold War "End of the world" thing has been over done so many times. I will be so disappointed if this is earth.
If it is earth, at least they could have made it more of a modern "end of the world story". Maybe have the President of the US create a hap hazzard group of nations against the "Evil Doer" Cylons who they fight endlessly. Or maybe as Lee and the US president shake hands for the first time a Terrorist bomb goes off killing everyone and the show ends. Something completely cheesy but along those lines.
I just have a feeling that this planet is not earth but another clue of the way there.

Can someone please explain to me, that if as Cylons they don't age (see flashbacks in episode), then how the hell did Adama not know Sol wasn't a Cylon. After all the years they knew each other, how is it that the old Colonel aged or in this case didn't age???? I am confused with this.
The only thing I can think of is they age just like humans (which would explain how they look the same in the flashbacks), then when they die of old age or whatever, they regenerate or download like the other cylons into a baby body? I have no clue but just trying to make sense of this.
No, that one makes absolutely NO sense. That's what pissed me off so much when they made Tigh a Cylon. Reee-tarded!
Zerick deserved it.
Its funny - they started out in one of the early episodes in season 1 introducing zarek as a most seeing him as a terrorist. Over the seasons he became more and more respectable as someone who fought for the interests of the people. Well, as it turned out, he was nothing more than a terrorist.
Exactly. A wolf in sheeps clothing. The funny thing is that you knew at some point he would cross the line. We just didn't know how. When he ordered the quorum to be eliminated I was like HOLY CRAP. That is about as extreme as you can get crossing the line.
Even Gata knew it. I just wish they had given Gata a better send off then looking at Zarek and basically nodding to him basically saying "we tried".
See, I was wondering if that nod was Gaeta was more of a....yup, I end up being executed alongside a terrorist...the entire time I've always thought I'm on the right side, but it turns out...I wasn't.
Damn good season.
I disagree. Gaeta didn't go to his death knowing he was wrong...he knew he was right, and guess what? He WAS right. NO WAY do you go that far to befriend the race that tried to exterminate you. I mean, if it was just the race and not the actual ones that did it, okay, you have to forgive them. No, these are the ACTUAL BEINGS that orchestrated the end of your civilization. You're sorry? Good, that's great, and I hope God forgives you...'cause you'll be standing in front of him in about ten seconds! lol
Obviously, Gaeta got in with the wrong guy and it went awry. The killings and unwarranted violence went against everything Gaeta stood for. That's why he knew he had to die. He realized that he duped himself, through his own actions, into ending up just like Zarek. Man, they did a good job of exploiting this character's weakness and turning him into a tragic hero.
Interesting way of looking at it...I see your point and I wasn't saying he thought HE was wrong...but that he was just on the wrong side.
On New Caprica, he was with Baltar and while he thought he was helping his people, he chose a side that made him look pretty bad. But he knew he was doing the right thing.
At the end, he chose to get the help of Zarek to do this...and that's sort of what I think of the look at the end. That he dies alongside a terrorist...so once again, on the wrong SIDE....but I'm sure he believed HE was right.
Did you watch the webisodes the last few months?
No, didn't know there were any.

I guess it can be debated but I don't think he was right. The 13th tribe by all accounts were different. They are alluding to the fact they were peaceful and not war mongering. The civil war within the Cylons showed that not all Cylons agreed with each other when it came to humans. Also, throughout the show there have always been dissention with some of the Cylons in regards to humans.
I think he didn't know any other way to live just like Dee and some of the others in the fleet. The fleet only had 2 constants. The mission to Earth and the Cylons were the enemy. When the Earth hope was completely obliterated, some crew clung on blindly to the only thing they had left to hold on to and that is the Cylons were the enemy.
I look at Gaeta as more of a tragic traitor then a tragic hero. I understand why he did what he did and sympathize with his character. I also completely believed he thought he was taking the right course of action to protect the fleet. However, when you start killing your own in your fleet because they disagree (your with me or against me mentality)...there is nothing heroic about that. Gaeta wanted to leave some ships behind to die and was willing to off the old man. That was all on Gaeta.
I loved that fact that the writers could kill off a fan favorite, turn him to the side of Zareck, yet I never found myself hating him for what he did. Zareck...just had it coming.
