You have a problem in your logic, though. Aside from Tigh and the other noobs, the rest of the cylons actively participated in the destruction of human civilization and the attempted eradication of human life. ALL of them, even the ones that now feel bad about it. You don't get to try that, say 'we're sorry', and everything's hunky-dory. You NEVER get forgiven for that. Let me soften that a bit; maybe, if you are clearly contrite, you can be forgiven, but your actions should seal your fate in the end.
Yes but your looking at this from a jaded "human" point of view. We tend to think individually where the Cylons are more of a collective. Normally the argument would be you should not blindly follow from a human point of view. However, in this case it was bread/programmed into them to act as a collective. The first time Cylons start to think for themselves it practically destroys them which is what they feared to begin with.
You don't have to forgive the Cylons for what they did. However, for the sake of the fleet you should be able to see the bigger picture. If the fleet is going to survive they have to work with them or die as well. That's where Adama is right. He sees the bigger picture. Gaeta would have led the fleet to their doom just for the principle of hating the Cylons.
