I understand the cautious optimism but Wells is going to be a stud. He has the "it" factor. I think it shows even this early. On one of his runs, when he got the handoff I was reserved to the idea that it was going to be a 1 to 2 yard gain because there was no hole and it looked just like every other 1 yard dive the Cardinals have attempted since 2005.

That is 100% the truth.

Speaking of draft day blunders...I am still steamed over passing on Urlacher for Thomas Jones (especially when TJ and Urlacher were playing for Chicago).

There are more but that one and AP really sting...

The Cardinals have to improve on last yrs running game. However that plays out. The Cardinals looked good last year when Edge ran well. The running gameAs didn't look that good when TH was the feature back. Beanie should get more carries.

I agree I really hope we see a lot of Beanie this week vs the jags on 1st and 2nd down runs, even the announcer on tv said that once Wells came in it made the 49ers play tighter defense on the run and it opened up our passing game more. I loved that run by beanie when it took like 5 49ers defenders to bring him down.

I just don't like hightower as the everydown back because he is such a low yards per carry back, but he is great at the goaline cause he can catch out of the backfield and has awsome power at the goaline.

I agree Boldinfan18, We need both backs-Beanie isn't the receiver that we know of that TH has shown himself to be, but he can run the rock and turn me breathless!

I was reading Kent Somers' blog today and he said that if Wells didn't muff that first handoff, it was probably going to be a big play. One thing is for sure, I have not seen a Cardinals RB hit the hole as fast and powerful as BEanie did yesterday. He needs to see more touches a game. I would also like to see the Cards use a two back set with Hightower and Wells. I think that could be the bread and butter of the Cards offense and make Fitz, Q, and Breaston a luxury that they could use to put teams away for good.

I like that.

I agree 100% I was screaming Urlacher! He remains one of my favorite players.

Honestly we don't need Beanie to be much a receiver. if our WR's are healthy and Beanie runs like he did last week, teams won't be able to defend us the way Pittsburgh did in the SuperBowl and SF did Sunday. They basically said we're taking Fitz away, we're giving you the flat throw to your RB all day, we don't think you can beat us running the ball so we're dropping our safeties.

That's why Hightower had so many catches, they were essentially daring us to beat them throwing to him, and we couldn't.

IF the run game is more effective, the way it was when Beanie was in there, they can't do that. If they want to play 7 or at times I think even only 6 in the box, we're going to run on them and Wells will get big yardage. Eventually they're either going to have to bring the safeties up, or they're going to die of a thousand cuts from the run game.

I know it's silly to get that excited about a rookie with less than 50 yards in his NFL career but the difference between TH and Wells was glaringly obvious in the run game, Wells was much more decisive and he has that ability to cut without slowing down.

Wells would have already been the starter had he not got injured during Training Camp.

You cannot compare AP and Wells. Beanie hasn't done anything yet.. Week 3 will be interesting because the Colts have Donald Brown, who we supposedly wanted above Beanie, and looked good against Jacksonville.

Brown had 11 carries for 19 yards. Not sure good would be the word I would use to describe Brown.

I think Beanie is the most physically talented RB to enter the league since AP. It will be on him (and to a lesser degree the team) to make sure he takes that talent and becomes what he should be. A top 2 back year in and year out. Hes that skilled.

And Mokler is right about the "it" factor. Just watching once the way his feet move in between the tackles lets even the most casual observer see how special of a runner he is.

I just wouldn't count on seeing that this week with Mr Stroud and Jacksonville being the opponent.

Stroud hasn't played for Jacksonville in 2 years.

You are right. The football blurred together for me this weekend with the Sunday ticket and NCAA on Saturday. Strouds name was called numerous times in the MNF game and I remembered incorrectly which game i was recalling.

My point was that the Jags did a fine job of stopping the run against the Colts this past weekend and it might be a week or after the bye before Beanie really breaks out.

DCR, no offense was meant by my response that I wouldn't want Brian Urlacher this year. Isnt he out for like half the season? That's all I meant; no Bluster or snide remark was made on purpose. I'm sorry if that is what anyone thought I meant.

AzFinest-I love that you are that Jazzed about Beanie Wells.. So am I!!! Ive had dreams that the first time he is let loose he will get over 100 yds, and be the talk of NFL Network and ESPeon, and I hope its this Sunday against the Jags..

Russ Smith, your information about Wells and TH gave me insight into their abilities and potential.

When you have Willis in the middle, that gives you alot of leeway to drop your coverage.

We need to find someone (FB?) that can neutralise him more. Somehow. Maybe the FB and a TE/OL.
