Is what I read this morning, he was 2-3 inches shorter than listed.

Love was 6'8 1/4" which is basically 6'9 1/2" with shoes so he's about a half inch shorter than listed (playing height). Haven't seen an official list but what I read said Beasley's was the most significant because scouts were already concerned with his behavior during the testing only portion of the camp he was "clowning around" way too much. So when he measured that much shorter it was like strike 2.

I still expect him to go 2nd but supposedly Mayo is making a push up.

Another site is reporting 6'7 1/4" for Beasley but i guess official lists will come out midweek so nothing is concreete yet.

That extra ~inch would mean 1-2 inches shorter than listed instead of 2-3.

Still a great player and he has the other facets offensively he's not just a low post scorer, but with his attitude issues it doesn't help to be 2-3 inches shorter than listed.

I do think his lack of height might cause him to make a short drop. It seems his skills right now are more attuned to a PF but he definetly lives in SF body. There are some excellent SF type players with height later in draft. However, no doubt he has immense talent.

I'll be interested in his reach/length. He was just an amazing rebounder at K State.

Even if he is shorter than expected, he's still better than any other big man in the draft, right? He'll have to go 1 or 2.

Derrick Coleman part deux. Mark it down.

there's a good side and a bad side to that comment.

if there's any way to get him, shorter than advertised or not, you get him. he has an extremely fluid game. he can become an excellent sf with time.

Derrick Coleman could have been a hall-of-famer if he actually gave a damn.

true, but he also raised an insignificant nets franchise out of oblivion. and yes, he had help with kenny anderson and petro, but c'mon, that was almost all dc. he was a stud who never quite lived up to his potential to be the best ever.

I swear Charles Barkley was 6'5" tops. I met him at the Phoenix Open the first year he was here and we chatted for about 15 minutes. I'm 6'4" and 1/2 and felt like I was looking him in the eye. In fact, I was stunned to see how short he was. What he did at that height was amazing. He would just punk much taller guys like Shawn Kemp and Karl Malone.

So, I wouldn't write Beasley off completely because of that height. He's going to make it in the NBA IMO, it's just the extent of how good he will be that's the question.

I've only seen Beasley a few times and he certainly plays bigger than those measurements: 26.2 ppg and 12.4 rpg. K State won 21 games without a particularly strong support group (Walker was the only NBA type player).

Obviously Beasley is not dropping to the Suns, but I find it curious that people freak out about his height and ignore productivity.

Michael Beasley - 26.2 ppg - 12.4 rpg
Brook Lopez - 19.3 ppg - 8.2 rpg
Kevin Love - 17.5 ppg 10.6 rpg
DeAndre Jordan - 7.9 ppg - 6.0 rpg
JaVale McGee - 14.1 ppg - 7.3 rpg
Anthony Randolph - 15.6 ppg - 8.5 rpg
Kosta Koufos - 14.4 ppg - 6.7 rpg
Donte Green - 17.7 ppg - 7.2 rpg
Marreese Speights - 14.5 ppg - 8.1 rpg

There is a photo where Charles Barkley looks 6'7" and apparently in the same photo from a different angle he looks 6'8." I always thought Charles was 6'6 and a half inches tall.

Iti's interesting, but we don't know how close he was to the chart and how far away the camera was in determinng the angle.

BTW, how much of his height was due to his pointy head? ;)

Glen Robinson averaged 30 and 12. Whats your point?

Someone get Ed O'bannon on the phone. I need to buy a car.

In any picture you have Barkley next to MJ, you see MJ is taller at 6'6 himself. Barkley is 6'4"1/2 according to himself.

Thanks. There is no way he was two inches taller than me.

I'd be happy to see the Suns move into the top 5 (trading Diaw or Barbosa along with the 15 to get him.

Not worth number one overall? Was it? I can't remember.

It was. I thought he was an ok #1 selection. Obviously in hindsight Jason Kidd would have been the better choice, or Grant Hill if the injuries don't happen. He was a 20/10 guy for a few years IIRC.
