Maybe I'm thinking of a different interview but I thought his point had less to do with a lack of coaching structure (currently) and more to do with the state of the young players. There is very little time during the season to run scrimmages, with or without referees. And because of an absence of coaching in the past, Triano was forced to work on things that should have been resolved in high school.
I don’t know, I got the impression there wasn’t much else going on at practices, but Dudley references the scrimmaging specifically. Find it unusual for him to do that if they don’t run scrimmages that much to begin with.

You can't fire an interim coach until you have figured out who your real head coach is going to be. I guess he could call Triano in and tell him to run better practices but thats about it.

He can DEFINITELY do the latter. He’s an interim coach and if he’s doing jack squat to make these guys better, to be honest, why not fire his ass?

We’re already a laughing stock. Might as well see if you can gain ANYTHING this year as far as development for the younger guys. All what’s happening now is letting awful habits set in.

I mean, at the very worst of this is happening McD should have talked to Triano and told him if he wants his name in the hopper for next year, he might want to actually try and do something productive with those kids.

Now is not the time to worry about how Triano handles practices.

Is the tanking crowd wanting wins?

After the season is time to worry about practices and hiring a new head coach. This season is almost over.

No, the tanking crowd isn’t wanting wins. There’s a way to get our goal and still not have the entire season be freaking pointless. The team was too young/talentless to ever win games, but that didn’t mean we didn’t at least want to see a little progression from Chriss/Bender along the way.

Good lord... questions that lead to hypocritical projections onto the tankers like THIS is the type of stuff that bothers me so much.

You don’t get it. You never got it. And apparently you never will do for the love of god and board civility, just leave the tankers out of whatever you think we’re thinking.

I've been wanting for the Suns to develop their young players all season. Perhaps you are late to the party.

I see your point, but find it so frustrating to look forward to same old-same old for another season.

My point is about the folly of having two players whose problems seem to include those of personal traits compete with each other year after year for the Power Forward position, when neither has offered a glimmer of hope.

Is the one who proves to be the lesser-worse really going to help the team? We need to systematically set our sights higher than what either of them has produced.

“Cut bait?” These are two VERY young guys in their SECOND year (and really for Bender it’s still only midway through his second year because of injury last year). Bigs, particularly raw young bigs, have traditionally taken a little longer to develop. I get that we feel like we’ve been waiting a long time due to being bad for so long and waiting for the light to come in for Len, but your frustration point for two young guys in their second year in the league with poor coaching seems a bit overkill.

There is absolutely no reason to get rid of either Chriss or Jesus at this time, no matter how bad they've looked. They remain a very cheap investment in a significant possible payoff, even if the odds are long.

Wow, can’t believe how out of touch you are on this.

I'm not sure I'm the one with the disconnect.

So let's say the Suns fire Triano as was suggested and the new interim head coach gives the the Suns a bump. Are fans going to be happy with some meaningless wins down the stretch?

I do think the Suns should conduct quality practices. If this is not the case, it should be corrected. However, I think it is a matter best addressed in the off season.

Jared Dudley confirmed a few weeks ago that practices have no organization and they don't have any kind of refereeing during scrimmages-so the guys basically foul all the time without learning how to play WITHOUT fouling.

Walton did the same thing with the Lakers a few weeks ago and everyone said he was a genius. Apparently it's a Phil Jackson trick, the idea being that you train players to play through missed calls and stop complaining.

What? We have 7 games left. Are you thinking we want Triano fired while the season is still going? That's ludicrous.

Chap, don't bother. it's clear he doesn't get it and just wants to paint the tankers in a picture that suits him best. To each their own.

So we're 1.5 behind the Grizz...and have games vs the clips, rockets, and warriors coming up. I think we'll be alright.

You have to move fast to beat out the tank commander. :p
Having been in the 50th Armor Division of a National Guard unit after college, I wasn't aware that tanks are built for speed.

Although, I must tell you, as Company Clerk, then Battalion Personnel Supervisor, I never saw the inside of a tank. Until ASFN, of course. :)

I was in communications intelligence and even I saw the inside of a tank (3 actually). Did you have a medical profile for claustrophobia or something?
