We’ll strongly agree to disagree on this one.

I just thought Sorkin was mailing it in. The characters all sounded pretty much exactly the same. Same rhythm while they talked, literally lines and conversations lifted straight from West Wing with some tweaks. Just never bought it.

That show was much too expensive to make. At the time it was a miracle they let it go as long as it did.

Luckily, Spartacus on Starz took up the slack. ;)

Spartacus is to Rome as Pauley Shore is to Olivier :)

Rone fell victim to the same rushed ending that befell GoT.

Wow, do I disagree. I read some criticism now and again that it ended at a difficult spot. Well, it ended at the Pax Romana, so not so weird a place to end it. And it didn't at all feel rushed to me. Could it have done great with more seasons? Sure. But like Chap said, HBO was bleeding money. No matter how great a show is, it won't go on if it doesn't make money.

Curious, did you watch Deadwood and Carnivale? Very interesting writing on both those shows.
Loved carnivale.

Just now watching deadwood for first time. Couldn’t get into it first time around but now I’m five episodes into first season and love it.

I know it was short lived, but Flight of the Conchords was one of the funniest shows I've ever seen.

The Wire should be #1. It is arguably the best show ever, let alone on HBO.
This.

The Wire
Deadwood
Sopranos

Never watched:
Veep
Curb
Sex

Barry is moving up fast for me.

Newsroom was a big problem for me. God I love Sorkin but this always felt like he was just trying to get paid. Except for the monologue to open the series.

First season was amazing but the second season was pretty disappointing, IMO.

Watch VEEP. Give it until at least the end of season 2.
