Thats fine with me to blame Arizonans. But its a self defeating argument if you are the Cardinals and your long term goal is support from the market your stuck in. The most prevalent reason, Arizonans largely hate this team, is the belief the team doesn't care about winning. The urban-legend that Bidwill is happy to field a loser and collect his revenue sharing has never had better evidence to support it than this bone-headed, guaranteed to have a losing season next year move than this one. The Arizonans that hate this team are requiring proof in the form of wins before they'll pay money to watch this team. The move, more than any other I've seen by this impotent franchise sends the message, we don't care about wins, our role in this league is to be the Washington Generals. The twenty thousand suckers that haven't figured that out can go to hell.

Man, life is too short to get THAT wound up over it! Get a grip, "guaranteed to have a losing season next year" is laying it on too thick.

Have a beer, take a pill, have some sex. The sun will rise in the morning and this won't seem like something to risk having a stroke over.

that's freaking classic and hilarious 40! Seriously- this actually means Phoenix fans get to see MORE OF OUR GAMES AND MORE WINS - damn - that is a horrible thing as they try to build a fan base - a win on national TV - oh the horror!

I love that the Cards getting a ton of national exposure and a probable win on national TV against the worst team in the league = a guaranteed losing season. That is just ******** - relax guys - you're all being ridiculous here.

I think the commissioner Paul Tagliabue called the shots on this. There's no doubt that there was a "We scratched your back, you scratch ours" angle to it.
There's a lot of quid pro quo and uncashed markers whizzing back and forth between the Bidwills, the League and probably a few owners.

For example: Agreement to move out of the NFC East. Support for the new stadium. The Super Bowl. The desire for national TV exposure. And probably a bunch of other things.

In a more paranoid moment, I was even thinking about the close relationship of Dennis and Billick possibly having some bearing on the decision on Hartwell (After all, who'd have a better sense of Edgerton's way of doing business than his former coach?)

The really sad thing about the Mexico City issue is the hole the Bidwills have dug themselves over the past decades. No matter what they do, they've painted a "kick me here" sign on the back of their jerseys and are fair game for any member of the media (or in this case, fandom) to take a free shot at them.

The only thing that will erase that sign is putting a consistent winner on the field.

Yeah I'm way way way out on a limb to guarantee these Cardinals, who've had two seasons that weren't losing seasons since they arrived in 88, will have a losing season next year. I'm so far off the map with that one, I'll probably never be seen again.

We're 1-15 on the road past two seasons. We are 9-7 at home in that time. Translation: We almost never win on the road, we win more often than not at home. Does anyone besides me, see this problem? We go from a game we are more likely than not to win, to a certain loss. This on a 6-10 team, who at best, could possibly be expected to squeek out 9 wins next year. Not now. I could drink a twelve pack, have sex with your sister, the sun will rise in the morning, probably I won't have a stoke-or maybe I will, none of these things will take away from the savage blow these Cards allowed today. Ridiculous.

You make this Mexico City move if you want to ensure you have the hardest schedule next year. I don't care who anyone else has on the docket, the team that plays 7 games at home and nine on the road, as plays a division rival twice on the road has the hardest schedule. Period.

Right on, my point exactly. In the end, the goal of football is winning games. The Cardinals now have the toughest schedule in the NFL. Getting to 9-7 is a lot harder when you play 7 games at home and 9 on the road.

So what? If we are going to be in the playoffs this year, we will have to earn it and do so the hard way. If this team doesn't have the moxie to handle this challange, and they do make the playoffs, they won't go very far.

You make your own breaks. Hopefully this team is at the point where they recognize that. If they aren't, this game will make them grow and realize what it takes to win.

No, I don't see it. We could play the 49ers on the moon and I wouldn't see it as a certain loss.

Your right, its not a certain loss. We apparently have a 1 in 16 chance of pulling it out if we go by our road record for the past two years. I can't deny those statistics. I think we last beat the Niners on the road in 1979. Again, it shows its not a certainty we'll lose. Apparently we can beat them on the road every thirty years or so. Nothing to worry about.

Neither loss last year had anything to do with where the game was being played. If we make the same sorts of mistakes we made last year, yes, we can lose. Just like we choked the home game, one game out of a playoff spot, in December, in front of a half filled stadium.

This is an away game for the Niners too. What was their away record last year? Oh yeah, only 1 win...in SDS. How is this game a guaranteed loss? I think it's funny that some of you guys are saying this one game will cost us the playoffs. Going to nearby Mexico with a similar climate in October against the worst team in football last year (and probably next year too) is a can't win situation yet traveling to someplace like Philly in January is something you're optimistic about.

I probably missed it but does anyone know the status of the talked about preseason game in El Paso? If its still on we'd be down to 8 home games this year.
This could possibly be the start of something I addressed on the old AOL board and that is the commercializing of sports franchises.
The scenario would have ownership, or at least scheduling control, by the highest bidders playing games in the most profitable venues. THe Budwiser Bills vs the Coors Cardinals in a stadium near you.

As long as it's a mean looking sombrero I'd be down with that.

AF, what is that stuff in your avatar? It looks like something you'd find in an old ladies underwear.

The Bidwiils are as usual one step ahead of us.

Theyve just created a new marketing ploy.

Cardinal red combat sombreros.
Combine that with micro fiber hot weather ponchos and we could surpass the felons for the market share of logo'd sales.
