Wait, but you have no doubt he's guilty??

Being guilty and being sent to prison are 2 different things. I have no doubt he in fact did these things. But I dont think theyve proven it to the point where he can be locked up.

and thats exactly how Id handle if it I was on the jury. Do I think he did it? Yes. Am I voting guilty? No. Why: not enough evidence. Thats how a pure and fair justice system should work.

I have no doubt hes guilty, however, the problem with these cases is that no matter how many people accuse (in this case 50+) at the end of the day its still "he said/she said".

Excluding the religous fanaticism aspect, thats literally what the Salem witch trials were. 15+ girls banded together and started accusing people of being witches, and the townspeople said "this many girls wouldnt all lie, it must be true!". Having multiple people accuse should not be the basis for guilt.

You MUST have evidence. And waiting 20 years makes that impossible.

It doesn't make it impossible, but, especially in a case like this, it makes it highly unlikely.

So does Kim Jong Un. Though he does more than just 'wish'.
I don't know what you are even implying here. Blasting every trial in the media before anything has been proven is leading to a guilty until proven innocent atmosphere on every case

Free and open trials are a hallmark of our judicial system. I look forward to the day cameras are allowed inside the Supreme Court.

I dont see anything wrong with letting a jury decide guilt instead of the media. Times have changed and now everyone is guilty the second they are accused of something.

If the media were deciding outcomes, Mr. Cosby would be inside a cell right now.

Agreed,

This case aside. This is something I grew frustrated with on other cases. AN innocent person can have their career ruined from a false accusation due to the mud dragging they go through in the media.

Then stuff like the jodi arias trial and every detail of every day going out, people camping outside of the trial hoping for a verdict of one side or the other, it all just seems bizarre to me.

Agree. Not guilty in a court of law is not the same thing as being innocent of the actual act.

*Cough* OJ *Cough*

Sorry, way too many women and some of the accounts were way to detailed to be made up. Cosby is raping piece of garbage that ruined his iconic legacy.

Plus, he is going to go through civil trials just like OJ and more stuff will come out. He could still be found guilty in civil court.

The funny thing is, people overtime will come to accept he is guilty. I know so many staunch OJ supporters that now have come to realize that OJ did in fact off Nicole. The same will happen with Cosby IMO.

In ones own opinion and perception, yes. But in the court of law this should not, and is not, the basis for "proof of guilt".

Thats literally what the Salem Witch Trials were.

15+ girls said "this persons a witch". And the towns leaders said "This many girls couldnt possibly all be lying".

So yes it can happen. **Not saying thats the case with Cosby, of course he did it. But in general, just having many people agree on something doesnt mean its true.

First off not sure who is making the argument that in the court of law the number of accusers should mean guilt. Who is saying that? You are trying to simplify it. There are stories with tons of details and a pattern of behavior that each of these woman have described. I don't know of anybody making the argument the # of woman literally equals guilt. It's all the sorted details that come along with that number that is at issue.

By the way, those literally were not what the Salem Witch Trials were. There were family & social economic rivalries driven by wealth and available resources. The person anointed as the town reverend was greedy and had anterior motives who played on the fear of superstition.

The people who accused others of being witches were manipulated by those in power and prayed on their fears/superstitions which drove to 200+ woman being accused during that time period.

That doesn't even remotely pertain to either the people accusing Cosby or those of us that believe that once you get enough similar stories with a pattern of behavior..think where their is smoke there is fire.

Bill Cosby’s lawyer falls asleep during testimony

https://pagesix.com/2018/04/25/bill-cosbys-lawyer-falls-asleep-during-testimony/

As rapt jurors listened to the judge overseeing Bill Cosby’s sex assault retrial read back prior testimony, the entertainer’s lead lawyer snoozed in his chair.

Tom Mesereau, mouth open, drifted in and out of consciousness Wednesday as Judge Steven O’Neill read pages and pages of Cosby’s own words about Quaaludes and his sexual contact with accuser Andrea Constand into the record.

Cosby, now 80, sat for the civil deposition over 2004 and 2005, in connection with a lawsuit Constand filed against him that would later be settled for $3.4 million.

Mesereau slept at the defense table for some 30 minutes, and awoke as the testimony from the deposition was still being read. His nap was not commented on by the judge or anyone in the courtroom.

Jurors eventually called it quits for the night with no verdict, wrapping up their first day of deliberations into whether the comedian drugged and molested Constand on a couch in his Cheltenham, Pa., home in January 2004.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was reversed on appeal. I don't think it will be, but they have grounds because they let the others testify about how Cosby raped them. It goes to plan, but it's solid grounds for appeal.

It's a shame when an icon like Cosby has a dark side that pretty much ruins people lives and the legacy they built up all those years.

My bigger question...when is Weinstein's turn?

Bill Cosby sentenced to 3 to 10 years in prison for sexual assault

https://www.cnn.com/2018/09/25/us/bill-cosby-sentence-assault/index.html

Bill Cosby, once known as "America's Dad," was sentenced Tuesday to three to 10 years in a state prison for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand at his home 14 years ago.

Cosby's bail was revoked and he was escorted from the courthouse in handcuffs.

"This was a serious crime," Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, Judge Steven O'Neill said. "Mr. Cosby, this has all circled back to you. The day has come, the time has come."

Cosby, convicted in April of aggravated indecent assault, declined to speak to the court prior to the sentence. His attorneys have filed an appeal.

He also was ordered to pay a fine of $25,000 plus the costs of prosecution as part of the sentence. In addition, O'Neill ruled that Cosby will be classified as a "sexually violent predator," a determination that requires lifetime registration, lifetime mandatory sex offender counseling with a treatment provider and notification to the community that a "sexually violent predator" lives in the area.

Cosby was booked into Montgomery County Correctional Facility and will be transferred to SCI Phoenix, a state prison in Collegeville, according to Corrie Emerson, public affairs manager for Montgomery County.
