Very bad trade for the Suns.

Olowokandi may have even a negative value. Marion is more healthy and better in every aspect of the game (except shooting) than Szczerbiak.

That trade is made up by Minnesota fans.
LOL

That guy posted his trade on realgm, bbb.net etc.

That will never happen. We don't need Wally at all , much less than Marion. He is even more overpaid. He has injury issues. He has character issues not getting along with KG.
Thank you slin. That makes me feel a lot better. I dont want two mediocre players for an above average one. Also these two guys arent exactly great locker room guys from what I've heard.

Don't forget how "awful" the Kandi man played in the playoffs. If Minnesota got ANYTHING for him they would be ecstatic! :D

I would bet that we aren't trading Marion.

IF it would be JJ because of his extension and because right now his value should be pretty high.

If we get Q Casey and Zarko are the odd men out, not Marion.

That's too bad because I actually think Casey could make a big splash next season.

If we are trading for a center it will be a package of Eisley, Vroman, Lampe, Zarko, Milos, Casey or the Chicago pick.

Q, Amare, Marion, JJ, Nash and Barbosa are the core of this team. I don't see anyone getting moved before we don't see what those guys can do with a bunch of scrubs at least.
Voshkul won't be traded because that wouldn't help our hole at center either.

I would take Voskuhl over Olowokandi.

Kandi's 'last chance' was supposed to be Kevin Garnett, who could (supposedly) motivate him where others couldn't. If KG has given up on him, why would any team want him?

Is 'looking like a center' so important that nobody notices if you shoot 42% and play lousy D?

It is hard to say. Right now the problem is not who to give up, but who is worth having. The guys everyone would like are not really available for what the Suns can seriously offer. For example, people can talk themselves blue about getting Ratliff, but the Blazers would not do it unless Amare is included which makes it an absurdly stupid move.

The only centers that are REALLY available are old and too expensive. Antonio Davis at $12 million for three more years. I'll pass.

I've tried to figure out a way to Jerome James of Seattle, but nothing makes sense. He has only one more year on his contract and has not produced for the Sonics. There is no way they do it for Eisley (Howard is paid too much) and giving up young players for under achiever is hardly a great move. So while I think a change in scenery migh turn him around, I'd rather wait until he's a free agent next summer.

It goes on an on like that. Every deal looks awful once you look at all the parts.

What about the Chicago pick for Kamin?

Kamin, by the way, has one of my favorite quotes in some time. Upon arriving in Japan for an exhibition game last year, he said "They make teriyaki here?"

He is not the shot blocker that we would need.

Where was this rumor regarding the Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns? If all players involved were completely healthy I would say the trade makes some sense although I doubt Minnesota would do it then. A healthy Wally and Kandi is definitely worth Shawn Marion regardless of what kind of underachiever Kandi is.

BTW George, Wally would fit into a run and gun team every bit as well as Shawn Marion and probably better. He is one of the best scorers and shooters in the NBA.

The problem is that those guys aren't ever healthy. I don't think I would make that deal.

Wally played in 52 games in 02-03 and 28 in 03-04.

Olowokandi played in 36 games in 02-03 and 43 in 03-04.

Oh, my bad, I forgot Amare is real thrilled to play center and Marion a force at PF. So,

C: Amare/Lampe/Jake
PF: Marion/Vroman
SF: JJ/Zarko
SG: Q/CJ
PG: Nash/Barbosa/Eisley

would be the true lineup we were gonna play.
More important that who starts . . . is who finishes.

The Suns have been notorious for 37 years for leaving any Center who weighs more than 215 pounds on the bench with the game on the line.

Regardless of what Center we bring to the team, if he isn't on the floor when it counts, it'll be more of the same old Small Ball.

Apparently, management is reacting to Amare saying that he and Marion don't want to start at C and PF. I wish he had said that they don't want to play C and PF.

Suns searching for big man
By Mike Tulumello, Tribune
They won't exactly be candidates for the Hall of Fame or even the All-Star ballot. But there are still big men available in the NBA, players the Suns will be considering in the upcoming weeks. According to a league source, those players include Joel Przybilla, a restricted free agent who played for Atlanta last season; Steven Hunter, an unrestricted free agent who played for Orlando; plus ex-Suns Scott Williams and Corie Blount.

The Suns are short at center, with only Jake Voskuhl on board so far for next season.

I wouldn't mind giving Steven Hunter a shot. He's still pretty young (23) and has a decent frame at 7' 0''.

I can't remember seeing Hunter play. His stats are pretty weak, but for a third string center he might help.

I'm not convinced JP makes sense for the Suns and I am pretty sure the Hawks will pay him more than the Suns can offer.

I've been pushing to get Blount for months, but it was Mark not Corie.

I really doubt I will care much for whoever they get. It is hard to get anyone worth having for the veteran minimum, but hope springs eteranal.

A couple of comments. Every time we start talking about filling the center position, we eventually degenerate to talking about signing 3rd string role player types. That's what Scotty Williams is etc.

Duffy said what we would get would be "shocking." BC is strongly suggesting a trade is in the works.

These aquisitions are not shocking: Scott Williams, Przbylla, James etc.

Shocking would be: Ming, Davis, Dampier, Ratliff, Sheed. I am at a loss to figure out what Duffy is talking about.

Thoughts.

I agree. I am not shocked by most of the players Duffy represents. Still, why would he know what we are doing unless it had an impact on one of his clients. That said, he does have 3-4 Suns as his clients, now. :)

--------

Ming will not happen. David is too expensive. Dampier is an option, but I think the Suns are scared by his contract year performance. Sheed is signing with Detroit. Ratliff is the guy! I wonder if the Suns are trying to work out an extension on Ratliff's contract? No way you can trade Marion as a part of a package for Ratliff unless is Theo is tied up long-term. I doubt Mutumbo would be considered shocking because of his age. Ratliff is the only guy out there who would be shocking. Even Dalembert would not be because most people don't know who he is. The player has to be known to be shocking. Ratliff is the guy, I hope. Other thoughts? Dave

Im listening to Bill Duffy on KTAR and he said that in the next few days the suns are going to be getting a center. He said that it will be someone that fits the mold (ie defense and no offense) and it will be 'shocking'. He said that he was talking to the suns today and they have someone in mind and something will happen in the next couple of weeks. He didnt give any names though. Does anyone know if Duffy represent anyone that may fit this mold?

Any word on this lately? Is it a few days or a couple of weeks? I've been waiting patiently to be shocked.

Mu guess would be that if anything was to happen, it would happen after Q is matched/not matched.

Yeah, they keep calling me wanting me to put a deposit down on season tix. I told him to call me back in two weeks. We'll know a lot more about what team they're going to put on the floor.

Told them if they sign Dampier and happen to still keep Q, I'm game.

To me, that would be a killer off-season.

yeah, its impossible. We would have to trade Marion, we dont have enough $$$ to sign them both.
