Since I was out of town I had way too much stuff on my DVR. I have been going through it all and finally caught up. This show gets better and better each week. Steve Buscemi has done some outstanding work. I love how he is pretty much 3 or 4 different people, depending on who he is talking to at that moment. Also Chalky is an awesome character. Interesting to see how he is used during the season.

Yea its watchable. Certainly not great though.

i wish they'd spend more time with Michael Pitt's character. He's the most interesting/relatable to the bunch but he's seemingly being marginalized at this point in the show.

Buscemi jumped the shark one episode into his run on the Sopranos.

While not great yet it is moving towards greatness. It is at the point where you have a good idea who everyone is and what their purpose is. Chalky's speech to the KKK member was unbelievable. If they can have more moments like that during their run this will be a very good series.

yeah, it's definitely got potential and Chalky's speech was great. My expectations were probably just too high. it's solid and has A LOT of room to grow.

I really like this show....

I love all of the different stories. And the Al/Jimmy one is my favorite so far.

What was up with his mom though? Little creepy.

Yeah, this show is really clicking on all cylinders.

*****SPOILERS*****

You can just see the panic set in when Nucky realizes that they're somehow under attack...they are NOT prepared for this.

And what happens at the very end? My computer cut out with about 2 minutes to go, when she had just opened the ledger.

that was the end... she saw who Nucky really is and then it cut to black.

This was a GREAT episode and while I thought the season has been painfully slow at times (while still being completely watchable), it's picking up steam just in time.

That is my chief complaint. This moves so freaking slow at times it is damn near nauseating!

I am on the episode where they keep unloading beer for St. Patrick's day in the garage and the lady who's name escapes me runs to the fed to to squeal.

The show is only an hour freaking long and it has taken me 3 nights to get through it.

the first half of the season was as slow of a burn as a burn could possibly be, but the last two episodes have been very good and picked up the pace. hang on for a little while longer shane.

The Walking Dead pilot was slow paced but the tension never let me feel it. Early Boardwalk Empire episodes felt like they were never going to end. I like Boardwalk but without the strong acting and excellent sets I'd have never survived that snore-fest.

Agree that some episodes are slower then others. However, as long as that episode has substance I don't mind. On almost every show I can think of there are snooze fests for episodes. The acting in this series is so good IMO that I don't mind the character development from time to time.

See, I see it the opposite. *shrugs* Just a matter of taste.

Exactly. I always felt like Boardwalk Empire was paced well enough.

Great episode last night. The tension is palpable. I love the characters because they are so unpredictable. You never know what they will do next. The final three episodes are setting up for a great ending.

Another great episode, shocking. This show is just so consistent. Hopefully we get more Chalky. Every scene he has been in has been some of the better scenes of the show.

Good end to the season. While not at the level of Breaking Bad or Mad Men it is at the level right below them. I really like the potential storylines for the 2nd season that were set up here. Also Nucky's speech about his wife and child was amazing.

This is my new favorite show.

I for one love Mafia stories, and love how they intertwine the historic gangsters like Lucky, Rothstein, Capone, and Lansky. Its basically 1920's Sopranos through and through from the stroy to the acting to the pace.

Episodes of the Sopranos would be slower then others too, but ultimately both of these shows build the tension enough to keep me (and my wife) interested.

Look forward to next season when Nuckys people turn against him. I am hoping Capone plays a bigger role as well.
