is anyone still watching this? I only watch it when I'm literally bored to tears and want to be put to sleep. the show just seemingly has such little forward momentum at all times.
penultimate episode was GREAT. rest of the season has been a bore-a-thon.

How HBO's Boardwalk drama finally got great
http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/8691845/how-hbo-boardwalk-empire-got-great-third-seasonThere's a gap between high-end critical acclaim and casual fans. The uninitiated never get it. 'It's boring,' they say. 'It's trying to be something it isn't.' And maybe they were right. Fortunately, Season 3 has changed everything.
I wanted Richard to go kill people and they really gave me my monies worth!!!
I would have liked to see the former Agent Van Alden in Capone's posse or something else that tied up his angle a little better. Other than that...... I give it a solid B+ to A-.

Agree with all the comments about Richard. It was great. Does anybody else though feel like Gyp's scene was little lackluster? I mean after all the psycho reactions, killing etc.....I kind of wanted something more there.
his death scene? if that's what you're referring to, I thought it was poetic justice that he was ultimately killed by one of his own, the way he treated them. and after a hail of bullets throughout the rest of the last two episodes, i liked the smaller moment.
I liked the idea of his #1 man doing it. After he had to watch Gyp kill his sisters husband (I think?) on the beach with the shovel.
It made for a poetic moment IMO. Especially with him singing that song like a nutbag.
Alright, 2 episodes into season 3 and...ugh. There are ZERO likable characters so far aside from Harrow and Van Alden. Hoping their stories get more play as season 3 goes on.
I HATE where they took Nucky. His character was at its best when he was conflicted, trying to be "half a gangster." Seems like such a sudden change in his character.
People still watch this?
Season 1 was a little slow, but developed the characters well. Season 2 was much more enjoyable IMO. Season 3 has been pretty average. Halfway through and I wish Harrow and Van Alden would get more time. (Although Harrow was featured a lot in the past episode.)
The Van Alden story looked like it was going to take off with the "I need you to dispose of a body" cliffhanger. Too bad they completely ignored it for the next 3 episodes.
