Man I watched the championship (fast forwarded when bogdan was out), and I have to say I came away disappointed. I know this wasn't his best game, but I just didn't see anything special. Didn't seem to leverage his size but once on an effective post-up on a smaller player, lost his man repeatedly on defense, placing teammates in a bad position to cover, front rimmed every shot, handles didn't impress me. About all I saw was he was adept at feeding the post and getting free for a pass at the top of the key at which point he typically dos little with the ball.

I wasn't expecting him to take over the game, but was hoping to see specific skills that I could see translating to the nba. He got food minutes and unfortunately I just saw nada.

At least 2 of our guards are gone if this happens. Archie and someone else.

It makes sense the Suns will try to trade Knight if they get the right offer. Booker previously expressed a willingness to wait his turn (coming off the bench) if the Suns went with a trio of Bledsoe, Knight and Booker. However, starting Booker at SG would be the best option.

Not really. I would guess we would not exercise the option on Jenkins but besides that..

Bogdan is going to come here and be a 3rd stringer at SG and maybe some SF until he earns minutes.

Warren/Tucker/Buddinger(FA)
Booker/Goodwin/Jenkins(Team Option)
Bledsoe/Knight/Price(FA)

Also Gambo reported that Booker at 6'7 will see minutes at SF. He might even start at SF alongside Bledsoe and Knight I think.

Those are our guards/wings right now so I dont think Bogdan himself will change much in terms of our roster. I'd say he takes Buddingers place on the depth chart if he commits before the draft and then we will see who we draft and how that would impact our roster.

I dont see what sort of problem some people seem to have with Archie. He has slowly gotten better each year, while he sometimes voices his ambitions he has been a good soldier, worked hard, cheered his team off the bench.

I see no reason to simply give up on Archie. In fact I still believe in Archie having a breakout year eventually.

Then you're not looking hard enough. Why this guy is still even part of the conversation is mind-boggling.

He is almost a year younger than Kris Dunn or Buddy Hield for instance.

As you point out, Archie's youth is forgotten.

If Archie is going to take off (given minutes) this is the season. I'd like to see him in a Suns uniform when this happens. I do not want to see Archie to be a throw-in in a trade. IMO, all Archie needs is an opportunity.

He's GOTTEN opportunities! You people act like he's barely played in the 3 years we've had him. He's had a very few decent games, but other than that, he's been nonexistant when on the floor.

The guy is a career NBDLer or International player. Archie Goodwin should never figure into any discussion of our future team unless he is talked about as a component of a trade. Period.

I am with Chap on this one. Goodwin is just not an NBA player. He is quick and very athletic, but he can't play. Can't shoot, has low basketball IQ, has absolutely no defensive awareness, can't make plays for other people.

So? Both those guys are better now than Archie Goodwin, and will continue to be better in the future.

lol!

How do you draw that conclusion?

Pretty sure Archie would be putting up insane numbers at Oklahoma State or Providence in place of Hield or Dunn right now.

We see what happens when Archie plays at DLeague competition which is certainly tougher than the regular college schedule.

LOL

There are tons of great DLeague players that can't even sniff the NBA. That is hardly a good measuring stick.

Again, statistics aren't everything.

So what? There are even more NCAA players woul can't even sniff the NBDL.

Again, so? We're not talking about other college players.

Archie has had his chance--if Bogdan does come over, which looks likely, and we end up drafting a guard, Archie is toast.

Even if he stays, he's a 10th man AT BEST.

What was boggling me are two things.

Suns extended him for another year.

They still played Price and Jenkins before Archie last year.

It does not add up.

One thing is for sure. Archie must live in the gym and practice shooting and dribbling.

A this point, I really don't care about Archie or Bogdan. Both are long shots, not worth investing much expectation, or thought.

Why? He didn't do squat on Kentucky, and to me, he's pretty much the same player. No threat of an outside shot, not a playmaker for others, drive to the rim and pray. I take Hield or Dunn in a heartbeat over Goodwin.

I doubt we can do that trade on draft night, Archie for Hield or Dunn, straight up.

I don't care much about them (Goodwin and Milos) either, they are likely never going to be key parts, but you always hope young players drafted by your team will improve and make the most of their potential. Sort of like with Barbosa. Likely not an All Star or starting five but a contributor off the bench at best.

Go Suns!

Archie Goodwin barely has first round value, definitely doesn't have lottery value, even now after 3 years in the league. Hield or Dunn are far more valuable.

Secondly, not sure where you got "Milos" from, but I'm assuming you mean Bogdan. And even further, I'm not sure how you can formulate a well-informed opinion about him yet.

There are rumours that he's a talented young guard in Europe who might never play a minute in the NBA, sort of like Miloš Vujanić.

Not once have I heard that he might never play in the NBA. Where did you hear that rumor? From what I've heard, the Suns are negotiating to bring him over this offseason.

I read it's in his best interest to wait another year. And another year is just one more year of a remote chance he decides to come over.

Like I said before, after watching him in that one game I didn't see any nba skills. So to me he's a unicorn. A promise of nothing.
