Just thought I'd point out that he is killing it. He is a true leadoff hitter too, which is rare in baseball these days...

I like what I see from Felipe so far, but he is definitely a number 2 hitter.

Rauch sucks. We could have gotten way more for Bonafacio if we had let him play for respect around the league. But had we done that we would have realized how good he is, and kept him.

The DBacks have no use for a true leadoff hitter since Melvin wouldn't let him bat leadoff majority of the time.

you're right, the lineup changes daily at it is. I'm suprised he isn't letting Montero bat cleanup

Emilio never did anything much worthwhile in the DBacks minors except steal bases. I'm not ready to anoint him anything after a hot first week of the season.

I agree with DWKB. "bon bon" (i love that name btw) is a light hitting slap hitter who shouldn't really be a threat to steal over 30 bases. Let's see him do this for more than 1 week.

yeah - he's come down to earth - he needs to improve his eye and learn how to more effectively bunt

his speed is still a gamebreaker though - doesn't matter if you don't get on base

On one of the Dbacks broadcasts, they were talking about how the AA manager at Mobile required him to bunt at least once a game, or he would have to run laps. Bonifacio could pick the spot, but had to bunt every game.

Bonafacio is playing lights out, but would have been mismanaged here. Last season, all of the D-backs runners were too scared to steal bases. He would probably be a bench warmer and hitting just above the Mendoza line.

How is he playing "lights out"?

In the last month, he is hitting well BELOW the Mendoza line - .172 to be exact, with 2 stolen bases, and 17 hits in 107 plate apperances.

Quit the blind Dback management bashing....

Close. Last night it was Drew, while our cleanup hitter Reynolds was benched.

Montero was, of course, the #2 hitter in the batting order while Ojeda and his .300 batting average hit 8th.

I guess Josh Brynes is still picking the batting orders.

Yes, because they are deserving of so much praise for their decisions these days.

So, I showed you how stupid your bonafacio statement was, then all you can retort is that?

LAME.

Your statement that Bonifacio is playing lights out shows how LITTLE you understand about what is going on.

The grass is ALWAYS greener Jon.. You should know that by now.

I know.

What was lame was the thread by the same people castigating the FO for not having BOTH Hudson and Bonifacio - since they were slated for the same position....

Bonafacio is hitting .269 and has 7 (8th in the majors) stolen bases. So your previous stats are way off. He is above the Mendoza line. Bring correct facts when you argue with me next time.

And it seems like you are the only one who is completely oblivious to the D-Backs recent upper management failures. You may be loyal to this team, but you need to take a step out of the box, look at the record and the inconsistencies of this squad and second guess your opinions. Then you won't be so damn ornery about the situation.

If you go back and read what he said, he said that he was hitting below the Mendoza line for the last month. If you recall his first couple weeks of the season he was hitting over .350. But over the last 30 days, he is hitting under .200 with an OPS of .464, not quite "lights out".

Besides, since when was a .269 avg "lights out?"

He was lights out before his little slump, but has picked up a bit. He is on a seven game hitting streak I believe.

Baseball is a wacky sport. If he slumps like that and still has a .269 average, then he must have some talent. Our guys maintain slumps like that for the entire season, have a bit of a hot streak and end up with a .228 AVG. D-Backs would covet something like Bonafacio right now.

I just don't understand how one can defend D-Backs management at this point. I'm as loyal of a fan as they come, but D-Back John is just being ridiculous.

They don't teach reading comprehension at the U of A, do they?

Bonifacio had ONE good week, then has slumped, which I noted in the post.

Almost all of his SB's came in that first burst.

Read before you respond :mulli:
