Suns Have Options
Jun 25 - The Suns will host a multiteam workout Tuesday morning featuring four probable lottery players: shooting guard Corey Brewer and power forward Joakim Noah from Florida, Georgetown forward Jeff Green and North Carolina power forward Brandan Wright.
Those players -- Brewer and Wright, in particular -- have the Suns trying to obtain a pick from Boston (fifth overall) and Chicago (ninth) in exchange for current players (Shawn Marion?) and draft picks (Phoenix picks 24th and 29th Thursday and has two first-round picks next year, Atlanta's and its own).

If the Suns can't get into the lottery: They have a second workout planned Tuesday featuring players they like late in the first round: Petteri Koponen, UCLA guard Arron Afflalo, Oregon guard Aaron Brooks and Wisconsin forward Alando Tucker. -- East Valley Tribune

The Suns are closing in on a trade that would put them in the top 10 of Thursday's draft, according to David Griffin, Phoenix's senior vice president of basketball operations.

The increasing chances prompted Florida's Corey Brewer (a defensive small forward), Joakim Noah (a high-motor power forward) and Georgetown's Jeff Green (a versatile small forward) to agree to work out Tuesday in Phoenix with a fourth mystery player of top-10 caliber.

The Suns also are having second workouts Tuesday with Finnish point guard Petteri Koponen, Oregon point guard Aaron Brooks and Wisconsin small forward Alando Tucker, who will be joined by new visitor Giorgos Printezis of Greece.

There are ongoing talks with a few teams in the top 10 but one dialogue is "much hotter," Griffin said.

To make a deal, the Suns would likely give up some combination of their 24th and 29th picks this year and the draft pick of Atlanta's that they own for next year.

There's about a 90% chance that something is going to go down.

so if this trade happens to move up in the draft then the Garnett deal is dead right?

maybe....i suspect that if Amare/Garnett trade were to go down, then Minny would include their #7 pick to offset the age difference.

this is all insane. i cannot remember an offseason where there was so much wild speculation about so many things.

NOT happy we're bringing in jeff green. again, love what he did for my hoyas. would hate him on the suns.

would love branden wright.

wow... To get Brandon Wright to not only work out against other people but against TOP COMPETITION, makes me think the suns and Wrights Agent had a talk and convinced Wrights agent that they would be high enough to select him...

To me it doesn't make sense otherwise because him and his agent has been adament not to play against other people, and now not only to do a 180 on that, but to work out against agurably 3 of the top 5 players in the draft...

To me that is a pretty telling sign of what the suns are up to.....

He's not working out against competition, and he isn't working out for individual teams...

He has public work outs where teams can go watch him but thats about it... and Its my understanding, the Suns are watching one of those public work outs today....

I called this in another thread, but I'll say it again. I believe the Amare for KG thread is contingent on who is available at #7. If one of our guys is there then Amare is gone. It seems to coincide with all of the rumors of a deal being done in principle and why it hasn't been done yet.

"all the rumors" isn't there just one rumor from an unaccountable message board source?

if we get a lotto pick, it's gonna because Marion's gonzo. No way we take anything less than KG and #7 for Amare and there's no way McHale givces up KG and #7 for Amare. it's that simple.

Just my guess. It makes sense. It's more realistic than Marion and crap to Memphis for #4, Miller, and whoever else.

Well, we know they are talking with Minny, but I think Kerr said he would not send Amare. Words mean little because it's all posturing, but the only news you can trust is _that_ teams are talking because they would _almost_ never say they were in talks with another team if they weren't.

If Marion is still unwilling to go to Minny and BOS, which team with a top-10 pick is he willing to go to? If there isn't one, then the most likely way to get a high pick is to trade Amare for Garnett. The only other likely scenario may be sending next year's ATL pick and, perhaps, our two late picks for a high pick.

Then why can't we do the 3-way with boston and minny? Minny can't get a better offer from a team kg wants to go to (see the laker thread). These next few days could be crazy (of course that probably means nothing is gonna happen).

like I said, we'll see - but Minny's in no rush to get this done - it's a game of chicken right now, especially with another three-way deal out there to try to get us to sweeten the pot.

I think Marion to Boston is not as big an obstacle as we think it is. I could be dead wrong, as nothing seems to be set in stone these days, but to me it seems that there are couple things here and there that need to happen before something big even has a chance to go down. We'll see.

It's still hard for me to believe that Brandan Wright might drop into the Suns' laps--the conventional way players are scouted and ranked, Wright is pretty clearly the 3rd-best prospect in the draft.

This says to me that the Suns are looking at #5...either that or they're looking for the best possible prospect to match up against Noah.
