hmmmm... show just gets better and better... and again, they do it in such unconventional fashion. I mean... was Walt even in the the 3rd or 4th act tonight?

The scene with Jesse in NA was the most powerful of the season so far. just a walk off grand slam of a scene.

Very good episode. Looks like they're really getting ready to ramp things up for the second half of the season.

Aaron Paul is absolutely amazing. Every single monologue they give him he knocks out of the park. I don't think it is much of a stretch to say he is the main character for this season. Also when Hank gave his report about Gus, I had goosebumps. He played it perfectly.

yeah, i gotta believe Season 5 will be all about Jesse v. Walt. it seems like the way the series is shaping up. Does walt give Jesse up to Hank at the end... which even though it would set him free, it would KILL Walt's pride to allow Jesse to be known as the mastermind behind everything.

Jesse's the ultimate good guy in the story IMO... if that's possible for a man who killed poor innocent Gale.

I believe I've said it before but I think the only one who comes out clean out of all of this is Hank. If it comes down to a Walt vs Jesse (and I can see that happening) I think Jesse wins out in the end. I can't see how Walt can finish this show off alive.

Anyone think Skyler is getting darker? She seems to be getting used to the big money.

i'll be honest... i kinda hope he doesn't. the show is doing an unbelievable job of taking what was a very sympathetic character and turning him into a unlikable monster.

Great episode that was centered around Gus. Interesting to see that he and Walt are very similar but Gus has been able to learn from past mistakes. I love how this show can take a secondary character and craft an episode around him and not skip a beat.

Jesse Pinkman is now the de facto Alpha male.

Skyler is going to end up as the new fixer. I can imagine a scenario where she will end up using her ex bosses company as her new laundromat and gets back her playmate.

This week's episode was A++++

Fun and games in Mexico next week.

Breaking Bad is so amazing. It has now become a weekly occurrence where I say 'holy crap' when the episode ends. Gus is officially the biggest bad-ass in the history of television. So sad to think there is only 19 episodes left for this show.

If you'd told me Jesse's storyline last spring, I would have balked. Not believable. But they've unfolded so perfectly and the editing of this show is so good, it's somehow completely believable.

Question: Doesn't all of this make Walter entirely expendable? Gus clearly has great confidence in Jesse now. Guessing Jesse's got to do something now to throw everything out of whack again.

Yes and no. Jesse could cook Walt's meth but it wasn't up to the level of Walt's. If I remember correctly Gale said Walt's is close to 98% pure while Jesse only got to 96% (also the number Gale got to if I'm not mistaken). We know Gus has been looking for some way to get rid of Walt but with another 19 episodes his chance won't come for quite some time.

i'm kind of wondering if Gus even lives past this season... or next episode. if he dies, and jesse's the de facto cook of the corporation, is there any way he tries to take over the operation and cuts Walt out after their scuffle setting up next season to be Jesse v. Walt?

That would make sense given their respective story arcs.

one way or another, i believe that's where the show is going... maybe with Walt ultimately breaking back good, turning himself into Hank at the end, sacrificing himself at the end for Jesse, who I think deep down, has always looked at as his responsibility.

that's about the only way I see Walt going out with some kind of redemption.

that being said, since I'm almost NEVER right as to what's coming next... the above is probably completely wrong and whatever they do come up with will be a million times better I'm sure.

Can't see Walt getting any redemption. He has been going through a huge transformation into Heisenberg that I don't think he will be able to get out of it. Maybe Walt Jr.'s comments this week with snap him out a little but I think he enjoys being the big bad tough guy. I could see Jesse getting some form of redemption since he is the sympathetic character in all of this but I don't see who would give him that redemption. I think it will come down to a Jesse/Walt situation but Hank is going to kill Walt.

I haven't got that motivation, but I could be missing something. I think Walt is driven by his ego to be remembered first as the father who provided and second as a brilliant chemist. I think he views the violence as necessary to keeping his game going, but I don't think he enjoys that part of it. I think his ability to process social things through a scientific prism means he's able to do the deed when he has to. That seems to be the extent of it.

I have a feeling Skyler is going to be more involved with the business.

I have a feeling Beneke's time above the ground is running short.

I guess to me it seems whenever he is Walter White he is always meek and miserable. When he becomes Heisenberg he is able to take control. For a guy who sees the end of his life is near he doesn't want to be that meek guy anymore.

I don't even know what to say. This episode was freaking insane. I think Gus is starting to let his emotions take too much control over his decisions and I think that is going to be his ultimate undoing. That final scene was one of the most unnerving things I have seen in any movie or tv show.
I was so worried that Skyler was going to get shot right there as Marie was telling her about the DEA agents at the house.

Also these last two episodes have clinched a 4th emmy for Bryan Cranston. Between his scene with Walt Jr. last week and the final 15 minutes of this one I don't think anyone can match him. This show is just unbelievable.
