it just ain't right that they spilt the "final"16 episode season into 8 and 8... 8 episodes is just ******** and having to wait another YEAR to watch the other 8 is even bigger ********.

Yeah, they should have made 2 full seasons or chopped it to one instead of doing this 70% x 2 garbage. There have been a few story lines this season that seemed rushed and for a show with the excellent pacing that Breaking Bad has its a bummer.
(IE the immediate aftermath of shooting that kid)
Not that I havnt enjoyed the season though, its been fantastic overall.

Damn. Someone spoiled the ending for me before I could watch the episode.

Also, they're making us wait another year to finish this?! When did that happen?

THAT's how Hank find out? man... I think that was a major misstep, simply because there's NO WAY Walt keeps ANYTHING from Gale, much less something hanging around the house, especially one with an inscription, ESPECIALLY after the talk they flashed back to a couple seasons ago.

but, that being said, can't wait to see how this ends.

I kinda disagree. It is the small overlooked stuff that usually bring the giants down.

That wasn't from Gale. The Walt Whitman book was from Gretchen Black, which was Gretchen Schwartz' maiden name, the girl that Walt was with and married his old partner from Gray Matters.

This might explain some things:

Can't believe we have to wait another year.

In the mean time, how the last scene should have ended:

Crystal Blue Persuasion was too easy but fit perfectly.

Title of this episode - " Gliding All Over " - Perfect

BTW, did Jesse off Gale? Can't remember.

Yes, because Mike was going to kill Walter if Jesse didn't kill Gale first. It was the final straw that sent Jesse off into the deep end of the depression pool.

Aha, so if Hank now pursues Walter for the death of Gale, then Jesse is right back in the middle of this. "You can run, but you can't hide".

Two episodes ago, Walter shot Mike and Mike's final words to Walt were , just go and let me die in peace. Are we certain Mike is dead?

1. Walter is a vain man who does stupid, illogical things to feed his ego. Like buying expensive cars and wearing an expensive watch in front of his DEA agent brother in law.

2. Walter actually appreciated the book when originally given to him, and expressed a previous affection for Walt Whitman. I'm not surprised he would keep it, especially feeling more transparent and safe in his own home.

3. Vanity is usually what ends up as the tripping block for really smart villains.

That was his body in the back of the car they intended to deal with before Jesse opened the garage door and interrupted them.

I don't think it has anything to do with Gretchen, either, but Walt may use something like that as a lame excuse that Gretchen may or may not end up verifying to Hank.

One thing no one has mentioned ...

In their last conversation, Jesse told Walt, "Saul told me what you did." Walt replied, "It had to be done," and Jesse said, "I know."

So was Jesse referring to Mike or the prison killings? If he was referring to Mike, did Walt understand that? Jesse referring to Mike would explain why Jesse got his gun before answering the door, and why he was so relieved it was money in the bag and not a bomb or Mike's head or something. Jesse is clearly terrified of Walt, which was not the case when Jesse went to see Walt at the shop.

Walt thinks everything is good between him and Jesse now. He's at peace with that relationship. Jesse is definitely not. This has to come into play now. Jesse is finally learning how to play the game and stay one step ahead of Walt.
