To bring this discussion back to football, if Kevin Kolb sees that Matt Moore is getting $4M a year to be a backup quarterback, it probably doesn't make much sense to Kolb to take half that amount to be a starter. Especially when as a starter he's gotten his brains beaten in to the point that he's only been able to play in some 20 games the past three seasons.

I can understand this point, it's just what remains to be seen is what the previous 25 million or so we gave him for almost squat factors in. It doesn't have to, or it may. From the Cardinals POV, it probably does. From Kolb????

OK

PS: Where did you get the $2M figure for Kolb?

Thin air--as a ferinstance. If $11M is too high a figure, than it's hard to think that $9M suddenly isn't. It's probably more than $2M (if they're going to ask for a reduced salary, which I don't think they are); a reasonable figure would be $6M, including the roster bonus and the ability to earn back $2M for starting 14 games or more and another $2M for making the Pro Bowl.

Discussing the topic is okay. Leave that part out of your argument.

It was just A little jab that's all i'm sure he's smarter than i am. I just don't see why it's so bad to give someone a chance to prove he can play. Someone else mentioned Chase Daniels bring him in too i don't care, just have an open competition in training camp between 5 or 6 guys and let them compete. The three best stay and cut the rest. We're wasting the prime of the best receiver in league with no QB.

Yeah but did he say that after the Hoyer news? They're both kinda the same guy so only one should do along with a rookie IMO...

They're not the same guy at all. Hoyer is Keim's guy. Stanton is Arians's guy. Hoyer was an underafted free agent who sat by the phone for two months. Stanton is a former second-round pick who's never been without an NFL job, and has usually been the #2 QB on his team.

I don't know why paying Hoyer an extra $700K would change the Cards' mind about spending about as much for a guy that the head coach ostensibly knows.

Kurt Warner isn't walking through that door.
