Beasley played well for three quarters today and then basically gave the game away in the fourth with his bad passes and turnovers. Part of it is on Gentry though. Dudley was playing really well but couldn't get back in the game both halves.

He played well offensively but I will go ahead and hate on him anyway.

We gave up 78 points in Beasley's 30 minutes of PT (2.6 points per minute) and 39 in the 18 minutes he didnt play (2.1 points per minute). To some that might not seem like a big margin but over 48 minutes its the difference between giving up 100 points and giving up 124 points... its just staggering how horribly he impacts the team.

Excellent analysis! Also, lately we have been hanging in each game until the opposition turns it on in the 4th quarter. Because we don't have a go-to guy.

Who did the Suns invest in as the go-to guy? Michael Beasley. He is letting us down in more ways than one.

Sure looks like Mayo would have been a better signing than Beasley. Wonder if we could have gotten Mayo for the same money we got Beasley (Yes, I know what Mayo signed for, but its only one year).

We could have had both, but the Suns told him Dudley was going to start alongside Beasley.

I've come across that several times here and up until now I had just figured it was speculation or rumor but it's starting to sound otherwise. I guess I missed where that was reported, can you point me in the right direction?

Indeed, good Sir! I was also hearing nothing but rumors and speculation few months ago, but I just saw this yesterday:

As Mayo said in October, the problem was that he wanted a chance to start and the Suns indicated to him that Jared Dudley would be starting with Michael Beasley.

“Dudley is probably the last face, other than Dragic when he was here,” Mayo said. “They were very confident in him. He’s a great player. He plays well, very smart and savvy. I just wanted an opportunity to start again and to give myself a shot to go out there and compete against other starting two-guards in this league.”

Thank you and that was utterly depressing to read. People make mistakes and it's unreasonable to demand perfection. But, there are mistakes and there are MISTAKES and we all know what this one was. I can see having concerns over Mayo and I can understand a reluctance to commit to a long term contract with him but to effectively pass on him because they wanted to start Duds out of position alongside Beasley is nothing short of scary.

I am a supporter of Alvin Gentry, but I don't like the lack of commitment he is showing. Such as returning Jared Dudley to the starting lineup and his natural position of Small Forward, then backing off by the 4th quarter.

These two articles and sets of quotes by Paul Coro in the AzCentral/AzRepublic illustrate Dudley's frustration.

"I feel like it's Groundhog Day -- same thing, different ways," said Dudley, who sat the fourth quarter while Beasley played 12 scoreless minutes.

In returning to his more natural position at small forward, Dudley played fewer minutes Saturday (18) than he had in any of his nine games as a reserve. Dudley made both of his 3s and had eight points and three assists but sat out the fourth quarter.

“We’re trying to find consistency, but it’s been tough because you don’t know when you’re going to go in or your spots,” Dudley said. “I thought I played real well. I wish I had the ability sometimes to have more effect on the game. Beasley played well, especially scoring. I’m willing to sacrifice for my teammate, but I wish I’d got back in that fourth quarter. Leaving down two and not getting back in really hurts.
