I think his imroved D has more to do with Elindholm’s point the other day that Ayton struggles to make adjustments. He doesn’t know when to help or when to get back to his guy. By asking him to guard one person they have greatly simplified his task and taken advantage of his strengths.
That’s a good point as well. Taken together I think it explains his recent defense success pretty well.

Man am I bummed I missed this game. Great w.

So interesting to see Ayton used on mobile bigs like Giannis and lebron. TJ’s point really sinks home about it keeping him engaged.

Hope to see this continue to roll!!!!

You don't have league pass? I ask because I heard you can replay games on there now if you watch online. This is one of those games I would like to rewatch because it really was good basketball for the entire second half. I tuned in at half time so catching the first half would have been nice also.

Quitter. I admire Warren for having improved his shooting, but it was evident from watching the chemistry at the end of last night's game that the rest of the roster has moved on from him. They finally had a possible glimpse of the future to get excited about, and Warren isn't part of it.

It's interesting you say that because I had that feeling as well. I really like what Oubre brings to the table and without Warren around the logjam is cleared up quite a bit. Bridges seems to be backing up Booker more in addition to seeing time with him so we got him playing the 2 & 3, Oubre at the 3 & 4, and Jackson picking up minutes where he can at the 2, 3, and 4. All 3 of those guys have enough similarities that they can swap them out for each other and the rest of the team can continue playing as they were rather than needing to work someone like TJ into the flow of the game.

Watching it now and currently at the end of the 3rd quarter. One thing I'm noticing is that the team is having fun playing in this game.

they should have sold high on him at the beginning of the season when they had the chance
I do not think his value has diminished much. He has had injuries, that is true. But his improved shooting would have been taken as only an aberration early. He has pretty much established that now.

I agree with both of you on this. Warren is going to be the odd man out as far as the wings are concerned, and I am fine with that. He should have decent value in trade. He is a very reliable scorer and now a good shooter from the 3.

The fact that Ayton is a 20 year old, one year of college rookie Center can't be dismissed in all of this. IMHO, in light of this alone, I find it extremely, immensely encouraging that he is being as productive as he is and is now finding his stride on defense.
I think playing defense as a Center is more difficult than it is for a guard... The Center has a lot more going on in and around the paint and the basket, versus a guard that mainly defends on the perimeter only. And nowadays, with more bigs stretching out beyond the paint, playing defense as a Center is all the more complex.

I could be wrong, but I think it would be hard to find many examples of any rookie who had a mere one year in college, who entered the league and was a standout defensively. Even harder to locate a center who did this.
I think it's impossible not to get excited when you think about what Ayton will be in 3-4 years. With more experience, more conditioning, more muscle... he's gonna be incredibly difficult to handle on both ends of the court. And as he showed last night, he kinda already is! ;)

One thing I found interesting about last night's game and the win against the Lakers is the Suns didn't shoot well from 3 and they still won. Not used to seeing the Suns win with defense. They went 6-26 against LA and then 7-22 against Milwaukee. I noticed they weren't attempting many 3's and those that they did take were good shots, which made a difference.

Who was it that claimed Kokoskov's offense is centered around the idea of 30 3's, 30 assists, and 30 whatever the other was? I thought that idea seemed to be stretch and I'd never heard Kokoskov mention it before but since the Suns took so a bit under 30 3's and 30 assists in the last 2 games, which were wins, I wanted to know where they came up with that idea. Does anyone recall Igor actually saying anything like that? If that was so important to him then I think we would have attempted 30 3's at in each of those since there was definitely time to take those.

In both games, they out-worked LA and Milwaukee. Especially last night, the Suns simply refused to lose. They were hyper aggressive inside the paint - especially Oubre and Ayton. They were smart enough to realize they weren't shooting the 3-ball well and went to plan B. Bobby Hurley and the Devils should learn from what the Suns did!

3:25 left in the game and Giannis got the switch of having Tyler Johnson on him. Tyler then forces Giannis to PASS to Brook Lopez for a missed three. I had to rewind just to see what I thought I was seeing.

Really surprised how much Tyler Johnson affected this game in the last minutes.

They looked like they were having fun with the lakers game too. But I mean, that should be expected. I know when i played every day I enjoed winning games much more than getting my brains bashed in.

When he returns they shouldn’t let him shoot a three pointer in the event he reverts to form and kills his value.
