You're record may not indicate it but this Suns team is not as good as they were last year. You've had perhaps the easiest schedule of any NBA team to date and are barely beating scrub teams like Miami.

well, i'll take any exasperating 7-2 over last year's 3-6 any day of the week. We're not even close to hitting on all cylinders, but it's early and we've taken advantage of a nice schedule. Satty will be a nice test to see where we are against a decent Rockets team which we usually own.

I think the most troubling thing is the Suns lack a real interior presence. I'm utterly amazed that the Suns let go of Kurt Thomas.

Why isnt Amare in here to finish this game? He has 5 fouls but so what. hes actually playing good Defense tonight and having a block party but yet DA refuses to put him back in.

Game is now over but i still dont understand why he left Amare on the bench for so long.

Because D'Antoni wants to play Doris - who is having a tremendous game.

Boris was playing well and I guess D'Antoni not happy with Amare picking up quick three fouls? Amare needs to learn how to stay out of foul trouble.

You mean a tremendous few minutes at the end of the 4th quarter, Cause Doris stunk for more than %75 of this game.

I do give him credit for finishing strong though.

But Amare should've still cameback in with less than 3 minutes to go to help defend the paint and rebound.

Well two of those fouls wernt really his fault.

He blocked Tyrus Thomas both times cleanly and they called a weak foul on the 2nd block.

And Barbosa lost position on his man and Amare had no choice but to try and prevent the easy layup in a close game, but he wouldnt have picked up that foul if Leo didnt get lost guarding his man.

Amare imo had a great game on both sides of the court tonight.

lol i liked that part too.

you gotta love charles' wit. I think he was absolutely right when he said the suns will only go as far as amare's defense and rebounding can carry them. i dont know why he said he should be worried about guarding dirk though, that's a marion/diaw thing....

Good win tonight. My thoughts:

1. Two very good games now for Hill. If he can keep this up, we may look back on Hill as the most important story of the season.

2. Lots of moaning on this board about the Suns not playing well and just barely beating mediocre teams. But maybe that's a positive -- last year the Suns lost games when they didn't play well. Maybe this year, what we're seeing is a Suns team that can find ways to win that don't look so "pretty," but still count as a W. I don't care how you look at it -- 7-2 is a very good start. Think about it -- fully half of the teams in the league will NEVER be 5 games over .500 at ANY POINT this season.

3. Doug Collins is my new favorite analyst. But "the painted area" seems to be spreading. it's "the paint." Besides which, the "painted area" isn't even painted on the Suns' floor.

4. Basically a 7-man rotation tonight, but I expected it. Chicago is a small team, so Skinner didn't figure to get many minutes tonight.

5. I don't understand the Boris hate. He had a better night tonight than Raja, for Chrissakes -- 10 points and 7 boards (that's more boards than anyone but Marion's 9). Is it frustrating to see him pass up what look like layups? Yes -- but there's more to the game than dunking. He's a pass-first player. That's just the way he is, and once you just accept that, you can appreciate the other parts of his gam. He's started only 3 of 8 games, yet he's second on the team in assists at 5.1 per game (better than some starting point guards in the league), plus 9 ppg and 5 rebounds per game, decent or better post defense, he fits in to any lineup you want to play (small, big, run, half-court, offensive or defensive emphasis) and he soaks up as many minutes as you want to play him without complaint, without making waves, and without injury. I say we keep him around.

6. Collins made a great point during the game. The 3 seed this year will have to beat 3 out of the top 6 teams (SA, DAL, HOU, DEN, UT, PHX). That's a long road. Maybe even more than last year, regular season record will really matter.

7. Can't wait to play Houston. Time to remind Yao why he hates playing Phoenix!!!

Diaw only plays well when Amare is out, which makes no sense because a) why was amare out for the last minutes of the game b) this team will not go all the way if this is the case

Im 98% content with moving diaw for $0.75 on the dollar.

Diaw-Turk would be a super move.

The problem is, he seems to be a pass 2nd and pass 3rd player as well. I feel it is abundantly clear why Diaw hate is so prevalent. What he does well he does too much of, and what we need from him he doesnt do.

Also note, he only played well when Amare was out of the lineup, for the last 5 minutes.

Once his passiveness is widely predictable by other teams it will only lead to turnovers.

T-Mac is also out for a week after spraining his elbow against the Lakers last night.

The Rockets better order the oxygen for Yao now, he'll be bent over wheezing before halftime.

that's too bad from a "barometer" standpoint. I was hoping the Rockets game would give me a little inclination as to how we match up with one of the better teams in the league.

Absolutely! Whenever Amare was out of the game, we had difficulty somehow, baring some LB moments and smart plays by Hill. So, when both Amare and Hill sat, the whole offense stagnated despite Nash who again had too many TOs.

Amare had two stupid offensive fouls, but his first on Gordon was really a lame call since he was visibly trying to avoid the contact on the 3pt line and Gordon went through without being hindered at all with minimum body contact only. Anyway, his rebounding and defensive positioning has been very good most of the game and his engergy level high.

Doris became Boris after Amare's 5th foul and became aggressive knowing it'd be his fault entirely if we had lost for his lame plays up until then, and realizing that the only sure threat on our side in Amare was almost out for the game now. He needs to see a shrink for God's sake!

Bell disrupts the offense whenever he touches the ball. Period! Bench him, start Barbosa.
