Well this is ominous...

Hearing #Cards QB Carson Palmer will seek another opinion regarding the nerve issue in his throwing shoulder. Arians presser at 12:15 today.

Just got an update confirming he missed practice to get a second opinion after it regressed over the last day.

I doubt he plays, now I wonder if it's going to be a season long issue.

Yep.

Arizona Cardinals ‏@AZCardinals 4m4 minutes ago
Arians: QB Carson Palmer has been excused from Wednesday practice so he can see a specialist about his shoulder.

Darren Urban ‏@Cardschatter 13m13 minutes ago
BA: No concern about Palmer being long-term injury. At least not yet. Always could go IR-to return if needed.

Darren Urban ‏@Cardschatter 17m17 minutes ago
BA: Palmer threw a bunch Thursday and Friday and regressed.

Darren Urban ‏@Cardschatter 10m10 minutes ago
BA: Logan Thomas has shown more accuracy in practice. Arians said Cards don't really have emergency QB.

This game is important and its not important at the same time. If we win, then we are a dominate team and will be finally reconized as one. If we lose, its not going to hurt our chances to make the playoffs at all. So if they have to sit Palmer for one more game, I am totally fine with that as I have faith that Stanton will at least give us a good game(win or lose).

Now, if this game is a absolute blow out, if the cards play horribly, it could damage the psyche of the players and we end up going down the 2012 hill of loses again. That right there is my main concern.

Great point! There are plenty of mid average experienced QB's we could go after. Maybe that's why the Cards just cut a player today??

Butler was the one cut(not the punter) and they just resigned Bishop. So the extra QB idea is out the window.

My concern as of right now is not the broncos game...but palmer being able to play this season. After the bronco game there a a few easy games for Stanton and the defense, but face it----if we have dreams of a deep playoff run aren't they with carson palmer?

if stanton can keep playing like he has been, we are fine. The question is IF.

It sure as heck is not looking very good. Bottom line is that its been 4 weeks since the injury and there is little improvement.

:( Carson May be finished, IMO. His injury sounds a lot like the one that happened to Mean Joe Greene 1/2 way through his career and it NEVER came back.

This seriously sucks!??

The first time I heard his injury described I was concerned. Anyone who has hurt a nerve like that knows it can take a LONG time to heal.

His second opinion is either because:

1. The team wants him to go on IR and he thinks he will get better enough to play this season.

or

2. The team doctor thinks he is ready and Palmer thinks he isn't.

If I had to guess, I would pick #1.

if he threw the football with enough improvement last week before his setback then that is enough to be positive about. If it never showed improvement THEN I would say the team may be looking at IR-to return status.

Its probably a 1-2 month injury dating back to week two. He needs to keep at it and coach from the sideline until this thing pops back up and he can gun it down field again. he had good arm strength before this happened

I can't tell why you guys think that Stanton has been anything more than below-average. Is your gauge so skewed from watching terrible quarterbacks before the last nine games of last year?

Really more important that getting Kirk Cousins-level play from under center is that our running game MUST get untracked. We're above-average in every phase of the game except running the ball. Part of that is that we're getting nothing from Jonathan Dwyer and the supporting cast, but Ellington hasn't been the player he was last year, either.

He played well, didnt turn the ball over and threw touchdowns. If he can do that, we can win games. Its pretty simple. I never said he was above average, elite or anything like that. His play was good enough to win two games against two good teams. His second performance IMO was twice as good as his first. If he continues to improve and play like he has been or better, we are fine.

If he starts throwing picks everywhere, we are in big trouble.

not sure where kirk cousins comes into play. He had one great game and one horrendous game. Ill take consistancy over that all day when we are only using 2 game snapshots to evaluate players.

I never said he wasn't above average. I feel he can mange a game enough to win. I don't think he is elite, but I do think we can count on him to win games.

Since when is "good" the same as "average"? Do you guys all eat at Olive Garden, or something?

Do you really think that Stanton is "above average"? Really?!

Honestly, your coming off like a pompous schmuck in this thread and I usually like your posts.

PS: Olive garden has some good dishes.

IMO on a scale of terrible to elite you have
Terrible
Bad
OK
Good
Great
Elite.

I would put Stanton in the ok/good catagory for now.

hes not bad, hes not great.

Too small of a sample to critique anyway.

Did I type it out wrong? I just said in my last post the I didn't think he was above average? Where are you reading that? I said I think he is good enough to win us games. Is that me saying he is above average?? I don't think so. To me, that's saying he is an average QB that hasn't played in 4 years. K9, please show me were I said he was above average?? I'm not understanding why you are coming off like you are....
