I expected this as soon as they mentioned nerve damage. I am about to go under the knife myself to scrape bone away which is pushing on a nerve. I would have been surprised if he was able to return this year. Glad we have Stanton and a good D. I still don't count us out of going all the way. Stanton will improve each week he gets to work with the 1st team and by playoff time he should be good enough to put away any doubts of us being a true super bowl contender.

Honestly, your coming off like a pompous schmuck in this thread and I usually like your posts.

PS: Olive garden has some good dishes.

IMO on a scale of terrible to elite you have
Terrible
Bad
OK
Good
Great
Elite.

I would put Stanton in the ok/good catagory for now.

hes not bad, hes not great.

Too small of a sample to critique anyway.

I'd put him on the lower level of "OK" in that he hasn't done much to win games, but he's managed not to lose them so far against two pass defenses that are actually pretty good--NYG and San Francisco both have higher passing DVOAs than we do.

Still, his completion percentage is too low, and two TDs in two games is hardly a sustainably winning pace.

Did I type it out wrong? I just said in my last post the I didn't think he was above average? Where are you reading that? I said I think he is good enough to win us games. Is that me saying he is above average?? I don't think so. To me, that's saying he is an average QB that hasn't played in 4 years. K9, please show me were I said he was above average?? I'm not understanding why you are coming off like you are....

You did type it out wrong. Here's what you typed:

I never said he wasn't above average.

Double negative = you said he was above average, and you never said anything else.

IMO, Stanton isn't doing much "to win us games".

IMHO, we really don't know exactly what we have in Stanton... yet. We don't know if he is "good", or "average", or if he's capable of actually "winning" a game for us... yet.

I believe his performance this Sunday will give us the ability to more accurately assess his capability to "win" games. Don't get me wrong, I am not suggesting that he has to win on Sunday. Heck, I had us losing the game before the season and I believe we would most likely lose with Palmer at the helm. That said, I do believe that Stanton's play this Sunday will give us the ability to add it to his previous 2 starts and therefore, be better positioned to draw conclusions. He's even had the bye week to further work with the starters and prepare for this game.

Still might not be enough sample size... however, I'll feel more confident about assessing Stanton after this game.
And while he may not be "winning" us games, if he continues to be the reason why we didn't lose - I'm cool with that too! ;)

What's funny is this is a team sport and yes the QB being one if not the most important positions for each team, but we are 2-0 with Stanton and the rest of the team responded with DS play. Is he elite- not yet, will he be, not sure and probably not, but so far the back up QB has gotten it done in his 1st career starts in the NFL. It will be extremely tough in Denver, but I feel he will give us good chance to win (hopefully). I could think of a lot other QB's in this league I would not want as our QB if Palmer is out for a long period of time. I have faith in Stanton and I'm sure he will have a few games that he will do poorly, but can't really think of many QB's that have been flawless in 16+ games in a season.

I am happy if your last sentence is true too! :D

All I know is this. Stanton has thrown 0 interceptions (and I do not give a damn about 'could of been' ints because they did not happen and if we harp on that, the Cards would be champs with could have been wins in their mediocre history) and has won two games as part of a team. Hence, Stanton so far is a good 'Cardinal' QB for the part he plays :)

Yep, your right. Got to love that typo. I meant to say I never said he was above average. ;)

Do you guys all eat at Olive Garden, or something?!

I heard corporate was threatening to take away the free breadsticks so I may rethink it here pretty soon. :)

That would be a dumb idea.

Olive Garden sucks unless one has no idea what good Italian food taste like. Plus they give some of the smallest servings on the planet and charge you out the butt for it. Ok... now let's talk about something far more important, having to bear the excruciating whiny arrogant expressions of John Fox lol

The more tape is out there on him the more tendencies and flaws will be exposed. I expect the Denver defensive coaches have seen in 2 games some things they will try to exploit. It remains to be seen if they can or not.

The Cards need to be careful, there are a couple of pretty good pass rushers on the Denver defense. If Drew gets "happy feet" it may turn out bad. The o-line has to keep them off of him.

Plus, a good game from the running backs would be nice.

This is a winnable game.

Go Cards!

That was what, 40 years ago? Complete apples v. oranges comparison.

No, it's oranges to oranges. I watched A Football Life on NFL Network 2 weeks ago and he said he played the final half of his career with nerve damage on his left arm that never healed and would not allow him to grip anything. He says is still an issue today.

Great point. I think if the Cards D can disrupt manning and get to him a few times, he will try and get rid of the quicker. Seattle in SB and I can recall the chargers last year in a Sunday or Monday night game that they got to manning and he was not the same qb. Need to make no mistakes, convert on 3rd downs and keep manning on the sidelines as much as we can.

I hate Red Lobster because they support clubbing baby harp seals.

Why would you eat at a place that would hurt this guy?

MJ said the doctors in LA are now looking at his neck. Remember it took Peyton a year and a half to get back to his caliber of play.

I don't think the Cardinals will beat Denver on the road with Stanton but boy how great would it be if they did.

Yes...and I would like him medium-rare with a side of rice pilaf.
