Because he is asked to read and then react and he just gets locked up. He doesn't trust himself and it shows as he is a step slow everwhere.

But you can put the player in a role that requires less instinctive reads. We both know this.

Sort of. On lots of plays you have to have options, especially in short yardage. If you’re in single coverage, he’s certainly been coached to stay with his man. He would only have a rush option on a blitz. Mental error
