One other thing about Kolb that bothers me is that this is his 5th year in the NFL without starting more than 10 games in one season. Has there ever been a QB who was around that long without starting more than 10 games in one season who went on to be a top QB?

Trent Green maybe? But then he started 14 games for the Redskins his 5th season with 23TD passes to 11interceptions. Dan Fouts took a while to get going but he had started 39 games going into his 5th season. Steve Young started 14 games in Tampa his second season. Others?

Seems to me that a QB just can't sit around that long and develop into anything above average. Or it could be that if a QB hasn't been able to take over the reins of a team within 2-3 seasons he'll never really get a chance to do so.

Rich Gannon didn't get his 10th start until his 4th season in the league. And it took him a while to become great.

Kind of an uneasiness with Kolb. I feel the same way. I hope he works out, but I don't have confidence that he will.

Gannon only had 4 decent seasons in 17 years in the NFL with the first one coming in his 11th year. He also started 11 games in his 5th season.

Maybe Kolb will be able to come back and start the last two games and get to 11.

Even so the list of guys who only turned it on later in their careers after playing sparingly early is very short.

Leen Art? Isn't that the school that used to advertise on the inside back page of Comic Books?

Yes. And strange thing is that Leinart only got a D in that at USC.

Thanks. I was trying to remember the other course Leinart took along with Ballroom Dancing and Collar Bone breaking 101 when he remained at USC for another year.

ESPN just reported that Kevin Kolb will be the starter in 2012...The Cardinals want to give him a full off season and get him into the weight room.

Yup. Saw Chris Mortenson report this morning. Cards want Kolb to have a full offseason and weight training program. They are committed to him. Not sure if this is good or bad.

If only it had been sideline engineering or some kind of engineering.

I always thought that was the case too, when you look at his contract. It really is a two year trial at 21 million.

Completely. Mods, please change ASAP. This is basically a statement of financial ramifications and options that DID NOT come from the team.

The Cardinals have made zero indication they are considering anything of the sort, or that it is remotely on the table.

:safe:

Sorry guys.

Ya because you'd never want to give them their props for at least making an attempt to up-grade the team. :sarcasm:

Hey I for one didn't want KK, but the "old Cardinals" would have just sat back and let the chips fall where they may. This trade to me is an indicment that they will not just sit on the hands when it comes to making a risky move.

Props to Whiz, Graves, and Mike B, for making this trade that I did not agree with, it gives me the indication that we have moved into the 21st century with most other NFL teams.

Well said, my friend.

LOL. It'll take 4 seasons to get Kolb a season's worth of starts in this system. The fact that these stories are out there is inidcation enough that the feeling around the NFL is that the Kolb trade was a disaster.

5 years in the NFL and he can't clearly separate himself from a 2nd year player from the Patriot League.

Total scrub. We traded DCR and a 2nd rounder for an overpaid Chris Redman.

Hey, quit picking on Redman.

Changed title. We were all at the game and it took until now to read.

Don't forget that the 2nd Rd pick and DRC were traded to keep Fitz. Our priority was resigning him. Remember that he was high on Kolb.

Even if we eventually cut Kolb, keeping Fitz was worth it.

That said, I agree that we see what Kolb does next season and will continue to develop Skelton.

As we don't have a 2nd in the next draft as of now, and we need multiple upgrades elsewhere, I don't see Kolb being cut unless they have a legitimate b/u plan in FA.
