This is such a lame story. This had nothing to do with the Cardinals, other than the fact that they were there playing a game. He could of gotten in the same trouble at a Swap Meet or a golf course. He got in trouble with the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control. They are hard core when it comes to liquor law enforcement.

I am just as likely to believe that the Dad got caught giving his son a beer.

lmao, no kidding.

Having my kid get me a beer from the fridge at home is one thing, having them hold your beer in public is a whole nother level. Idiot. lucky he was only removed from the game.

Too true. A Cowboys fan could have had his son hold a six pack and wouldn't have been bothered.

I have dealt with Wesley Kuhl before and he is an absolute holier than thou douchebag. I have no qualms with police officers and have several family members who have been or currently are officers, so even as an occasional defense attorney I have complete sympathy and appreciation for law enforcement. I am not at all surprised that this is the stance the liquor police took. The sad thing is there aren't many of them, and it was likely Kuhl himself who issued the citation. So they were, in a lot of ways, in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Also, I don't think I have ever once seen underage drinking inside the stadium. Tailgating maybe, but never inside.

A father can't have his FIFTEEN YEAR OLD son hold his beer for a few seconds at a ball game...what a joke.

Assuming the guy is telling the truth, the cops seem to be complete *******s. No one is advocating underage drinking but let's take each situation on it's own merit. These guys seem to really be abusing their power and I hate the one's that do that.

Agree. However, I have a sneaky suspicion the kid took a drink, or more. Otherwise, it's pretty ridiculous.

your not camping, should know better. What you do is what you do but if you hand your kids open containers in public expect the worst.

So are the beer vendors that pass a beer down the aisle going to get arrested?

In a van...down by the river.

If this was the scenario i agree.
Enforcing that to the fullest is Hen house stick up the arse crap.

If i'm stadium law enforcement and i witness an obviously underage person holding Dads beer...i observe the situation before i even engage the patron. Maybe Dad is getting out his binoculars,whatever...and he needs a third hand...thats breaking the law but its NOT A PROBLEM.

If Dad is up to no good and wants his boy to enjoy the game Budweiser-style then yeah, thats breaking the law and a PROBLEM. Obviously.

This society of ours...

Yeah, I always advocate taking each situation as they come, and not sticking to the letter of the law. Of course, it could have looked like dad passed it off, and then kind of meandered while getting his camera out. It's always a sticky situation, and difficult to decipher in the heat of the moment.

Of course, this is coming from someone who didn't renew his season tickets on account of S.A.F.E. - I'm surprised I'm so supportive. :D

That said, I've been approached by undercover and dressed officers multiple times over the years at Sun Devil and UoP to check ID and make sure I'm of age. It's kind of surprising how strictly it's enforced.

Hopefully no one ever has their kids help them carry in groceries that happen to have alcohol in them.

Nothing surprises me in that stadium anymore, especially when it comes to treatment of Cardinals fans.

Why? If they were just helping out I don't see an issue.

He'd be mad because his kid didn't give it to him. Especially if it was Keystone Light. :p

Why would the kid be holding the beer anyway? Don't all the seats have cup holders?

Because they know beyond a shadow of a doubt they are not allowed to touch alcohol in public because of the potential perception. Kind of like this.

Your kids can not hold alcohol in public, they just can't. I thought this was absolute common knowledge. You want them to fetch a beer at home, by all means if you can get them to do it lucky duck, but not ever in public.
