What a shock!

Not a shock at all. Horton knows what he had to work with there. You can bet its someone he wanted.

Absolutely. Same with Joey Porter. He knows Horton's D so we can watch him bounce off offensive tackles all year. :D

Seriously, don't know a thing about this guy. Hope he is a good pickup.

Surely everyone can understand the annoyance of watching the team constantly sifting though the Steelers' garbage looking for scraps of food.

Isn't there a biblical reference to this about even the dogs being allowed to eat scraps from under the masters table?

Not really. They are all scraps at this point. Really who cares what team they came from?

Considering that Horton is now our DC it makes more sense to me.

5th round pick just last year. Big and fast. Has tools to work with.

He was Clemson's version of "revis Island"

During the course of his senior season, the fear of turning the ball over caused opponents to throw his way just 14 times in the whole season, dropping his statistical output to only one interception and 8 passes defensed. Butler finished his collegiate career with 166 tackles, two sacks, and eleven interceptions.[3]

I really like this signing. Sure, he's a former Steeler, but Butler looked good this preseason and has a ton of skills.

From ESPN:

Surprise move: I liked cornerback Crezdon Butler. He performed well for the Steelers and made a very strong case to make the team with his performance in the preseason. This was probably the most surprising cut in the AFC North on Saturday.

Good find. Where is that quoted from?

I wonder if when Butler goes back to Pittsburgh next season Carnell Lake will have to coach the Arizona out of him.

Well I know they were hoping the Steelers would release the soon to be 32 year old Ryan Clark or the 31 year old Ike Taylor, but you take what you can get this late in the game.

From back in June:

Steelers signed fifth-round CB Crezdon Butler to a three-year contract.
DBs coach Ray Horton is a big fan of Butler, who is low on the depth chart but should get a chance for nickel and dime snaps behind inexperienced Joe Burnett and Keenan Lewis. Butler was a three-year starter at Clemson. Jun 16 - 12:59 PM

Cardinals claimed CB Crezdon Butler off waivers from the Steelers.

A 2010 fifth-rounder out of Clemson, Butler never earned more than a special teams role with the Steelers. DC Ray Horton, who coached Butler in Pittsburgh last year, has always been a booster, though.

Horton was McFadden's position coach last season when he returned to form after a poor season in AZ.

Why this signing is so funny eludes me.

Forget about him being from Pittsburgh. This is a great pickup at this point in the offseason and this kid showed real, legit talent in college. Surprised he was released.

Kind of a poor man's Chris Gamble, and he's young enough to get better.
