In hind sight, we should have went with Nugent but I think what he was saying is that Whiz trusted Rackers to be honest about his injury. Rackers broke that trust and now he's been punted down the road. I don't think this is the only factor but just the straw that broke the camel's back.

I disagree. More than likely, Whis was relying on physician updates to determine where Rackers was physically. I believe Rackers was not upfront about how bad the injury was. Remember, last season was his contract year. Im sure he did all he could do to get back out on the field to show he was worth a raise.

Yup. And thats why Wiz was mad. Because he trusted Rackers to be upfront with him.

Why am I not surprised that Rackers was less than a straight shooter?

I'm not a huge Feely fan, but I would have taken Mary Poppins over that choking dog Rackers. I don't understand why we didn't consider signing Nugent, as I thought he did well enough for us to consider him. Nothing personal against Rackers, but the guy could not be trusted with critical kicks. I don't give a rats a$$ about his onside kicks or ability to tackle. Whiz had seen enough to know that Rackers had become a liability. Losing Rackers is addition by subtraction. Dumping Rackers makes today one of the great days in AZ Cardinals history!!!

It has been well reported locally that the Cardinals made every effort to sign Rackers but he wasn't taking the deal they offered.

It has nothing to do with Whiz's trust, Whiz wanted him here. They gave Rackers a cut off time to sign and he didn't take it. Feely was nothing more than the second choice for this team.

Anyone who thinks he is an upgrade is fooling themselves. Hard to blame the team though when the player won't cooperate.

You are fooling yourself. :)

The Cardinals made re-signing kicker Neil Rackers a priority, offering him a contract on the first day of free agency.

Again, a direct refute of any nonsense or supposition about "losing the coaches confidence".

The Cardinals wanted Rackers back and that is a fact.

They weren't going to pay him more than $2 million though.

Well they waited over a month if they put the offer in on the first day of free agency. I think the Cardinals were more concerned about getting stuck with noodle leg Nugent.

guys, this is a little tidbit for everyone who thinks we're gonna really miss out on Rackers' tackling ability, from Urban's blog:

"Well, Feely had six special-teams tackles last season — the same number as Rackers. For his career, Feely has 39 tackles, so he’ll mix it up himself."

Well, okay. That is a good point.

I remember that Feeley was the guy who singlehandedly lost the Giants their playoff game a few years ago. I'm not sure he is the answer to replace Rackers but we'll see.

Sando's written a surprising amount on this subject today, including a play-by-lay of negotiations from Rackers' agent, a breakdown of Rackers' choking tendencies and Feely's struggles at QWest field.

I'm pretty indifferent about the move. Ideally, I'd still like to see a young guy in camp for competition.

Typical for Roche. How long did it take for him to get back to the Cardinals? I haven't seen anything other than a couple of weeks. If you take that long to respond, don't come back and say Graves didn't get back to you in a way you would like.
