Sando's written a surprising amount on this subject today, including a play-by-lay of negotiations from Rackers' agent, a breakdown of Rackers' choking tendencies and Feely's struggles at QWest field.

I'm pretty indifferent about the move. Ideally, I'd still like to see a young guy in camp for competition.

I think that would be a smart move. They don't have to waste a draft pick on one but just sign an undrafted free agent kicker. I'm sure there will be some available.

It was nice seeing Rackers make a tackle now and then to save a TD/long return.. but let us not forget about the multiple times his kickoffs went out of bounds, starting the other team at the 40. :bang:

good move. It was time for the Cardinals to move on. I wasn't feeling comfortable not having a kicker on the roster at this point.

Typical for Roche. How long did it take for him to get back to the Cardinals? I haven't seen anything other than a couple of weeks. If you take that long to respond, don't come back and say Graves didn't get back to you in a way you would like.

Rackers should have signed the Cardinals' first offer before the ink was dry. Roche should be fired.

Jets | Had chance to make counter offer to Feely

Fri, 02 Apr 2010 12:20:53 -0700
Rich Cimini, of the New York Daily News, reports Glenn Schwartzman, agent for Arizona Cardinals PK Jay Feely, said the Jets were given the opportunity to make a counter offer to Feely before he signed with the Cardinals, but Jets decided to stick with their original offer.

Doesn't seem like the Jets really wanted to keep Feely. Maybe they will sign Rackers.

No matter how he tries to dish it, I think Roche screwed the pooch on this one!

I don't know if the numbers support it, but it seems like Rackers hasn't been booming kicks like he used to a few years ago, probably due to nagging injuries. Tackling skill in a kicker is a dubious distinction...too many might indicate crap special teams, or worse from the kickers standpoint, line drive kicks with not enough hang time. Sometimes I wondered if some of Rackers pooch kicks were accidents. Oh well, a new era is upon us, I'm glad I never bought a Rackers Jersey.

I am not happy with this signing. I was hoping to see Rackers back with a new three year contract. Good kickers that are strong at every part of their game are hard to find. Rackers did everything well. Yea he was hurt this year and missed a couple but the guy has always been a good kicker for us and he still has at least a few good years left in him. Sorry to see him go.

That would be ironic.

Another plus for Feely is that he kicked for a team that played in cold weather and outdoors. He has made some kicks in brutal weather. I have to imagine that he will enjoy kicking indoors at our stadium.

+1

Rackers wore out his welcome here. Couldn't trust or count on him to make a big kick when you needed it.

Actually according to the article and the detail of how this went down Racker had not worn out his welcome.

Maybe not with management, but with me he sure did and by reading this thread I am not alone.

No shortage of fans thatcwanted him back too. Considering the the FO and coaches did too I was say overall he had not worn out his welcome.

Rackers was so dreamy; he will be missed.

Wow, now Rackers is gone too. All 'certainties' have disappeared. This is gonna be a whole new Cardinals team in every facet of the game.

As for Rackers, hate to see him go, but i'm fine with the move. Hope Rackers lands a job somewhere. Bring in a UDFA young kicker to compete with Feely though.
