Wilson helped recruit him to the Cards. If AW thinks this guy is worth it, that is good enough for me.

Griffith is a free agent considering retirement. At this point Milligan is the backup SS.

Damn. I thought he wanted to re-sign. Oh well. I think Francisco is a hybrid-type S (he's big, he hits hard and he's athletic), so he could come in as SS and Holt is our full-time FS. Point is, I think our S coverage got a bit better and now we have better insurance when AW is rushing the passer....

Milligan is a pure STer, so I can't really bring myself to factor him as S depth....

He will be starting FS, no doubt about it. Has nice size and should fit in well with our defensive plan. You can forget about taking Landry at #5.

Yeah, that is the first thing I thought of too. Dude is going to be a s-t-u-d.

If Thomas and Peterson are gone at #5, the Cards would have to take one of the DEs or trade down and take Houston, the CB....

I don't know about you but I do not want the Cards trading down.

I guess Anderson would be a good pick...I saw enough Razorback games this year to think he is good. I don't think I saw a single Clemson game to comment on the Adams kid.

I still think Landry is the right choice at #5 if the other two are gone however. Seen too many LSU games to think otherwise. Landry is a play-maker who is always around the ball and plays run and pass both very effectively.

I like KK, but then it's been pointed out Holt is 27 and Kase is 32. Big difference. Good signing, in my unknowledgeable opinion.

Would be cool if he knew Torry Holt's secret weakness and finally told the Cardinals secondary how to cover him

Funny - some say he is better than KK, others worse...

But hey, we signed someone!

Hard to say. I think Holt is a safer choice, where KK was a one year wonder - High risk - high reward player.

Holt is probably the better cover FS of the two, and therfore the best fit IMO.

Instead of signing talent like Kevin K, the Cards give up and decide to ask the ugly girl to the prom to avoid rejection. yippie. :sarcasm: Well, hopefully this means Fransisco starts. Now if we bring back Tom Knight for CB help, and Sekou Sanyika for LB depth and this will be a successful offseason. :sarcasm:

Holt last two years: 117 tackles, 5 picks, 4 passes defended

KK last two years: 150 tackles, 9 picks, 6 passes defended
Ihear wadsworth is trying to play too, we should get him. How 'bout Plummer while we are at it. Last peice to the puzzle: Scottie Pippen:D

Griffith is a FA, technically he's no longer a Cardinal, so I think it's:

SS- Wilson- Francisco/Milligan
FS- Holt- Francisco/Milligan

Yep. I think it is more like:

SS- Wilson- Francisco/Milligan
FS- Holt- Francisco

Milligan would be a liability at FS IMO.

If you ask me, Holt and KK are about equal. Holt has more potential than KK and is a better athlete than KK. KK plays smarter than Holt but is limited physically.

KK will never have another 6 INT season. He is trying to parlay that into big money and that is why he hasn't signed with anyone yet.

KK and Hood are still FAs. The Cards could have signed them if they had wanted to.

It has to be a mutual decision, maybe their asking price was too high and they were doing the classic "use the Cardinals to make another team pony up cash" move

Cardinals nab free agent safety Holt

Tempe, AZ -- The Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that the team has signed free agent safety Terrence Holt to a five-year contract. In accordance with club policy, terms were not disclosed.

Holt (6-foot-2, 208 pounds) started 15 games last season for the Detroit Lions at free safety and collected a career-high 76 tackles (51 solos), three interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. The younger brother of St. Louis Rams wide receiver Torry Holt, Terrence started 10 games in 2005, his first season as the full-time starter at free safety, until an elbow injury forced him to injured reserve. In those 10 starts, Holt collected 44 tackles (34 solos), two interceptions and six passes defensed.

Originally a fifth-round selection by the Lions in the 2003 NFL Draft out of North Carolina State (No. 137 overall), Holt has appeared in 53 games with 27 starts in his career, collecting 170 tackles (117 solos), 12 passes defensed, eight interceptions, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. The 27-year-old Gibsonville, N.C., native is a former teammate of Cardinals Pro Bowl strong safety Adrian Wilson at N.C. State.

"When we did our free-agency ratings we had him rated as the best safety," head coach Ken Whisenhunt said. "We never thought we had an opportunity to get him, so we feel very fortunate we got this deal worked out.

"To have an opportunity to get him is something we feel very good about. He's a proven starter in the league so you know you're getting quality from that standpoint. The thing I like about him is that he's big and physical. He fits in to the mentality we want to establish."

Did he even visit anyone else? Since he came after KK does that mean he's the second choice? And he gets a 5-year deal?!?

Hate to rain on the parade but this guy comes from THE Detriot Lions and they apparently didn't want him back. The same Detriot Lions featuring the 28th rated 2006 NFL defense, which ranked dead last in pass completion percentage against at 66.3%.

Is this even an upgrade from Robert Griffin?
