The Cardinals are reportedly ready to give SS Adrian Wilson a new contract.

2009 is a contract season for Wilson and he's due $4.75 million in salary. Extending him appears to be Arizona's priority, ahead of Anquan Boldin. Wilson, 29, can probably expect a four-year deal in the $28 million range.

Phoenix/west side!!!
This is great if true, However, I think we should definitely be taking care of the players we might actually lose in free agency currently..... just think an adjustment of priorities might be needed

I believe he wanted a new deal last year. Im glad hes getting it, but i wouldve preferred if they had taken care of the players who are in danger of leaving in the near future.

Regardless, A-Dub being a Card for 4 more years is always good to hear!

imagine that, he didn't even have to go to the press and bitch about it. I think the Cards are also sending a subtle message by re-doing Wilson first.

Yeah, they have their method for dealing with contracts.

Players also need to realize that if they're approached by the FO to redo their deals, that they don't HAVE TO proceed. But IF THEY DO , BE PREPARED to play out the deal UNTIL the FO is ready to do business again.

In Anquans case, I don't know if he had the choice (to wait) because when they redid his deal, pretty much extending the rookie deal, if he did not take that when his original deal would have been up, he would not have become a UFA anyway. That might have alot to do why he didn't have alot of leverage on having to redo that rookie contract.

The amounts is pure conjecture that rotoworld just threw up against the wall. Their source is a Somers article and all somers states about is, "He declined to specify those objectives, but according to NFL sources, the Cardinals are ready to open talks with strong safety Adrian Wilson's agent about a contract extension. Wilson has one year left on his contract.?

Pretty much all Somers is saying is that after Warner Wilson is next on the list of priorities concerning our own.

DAMN RIGHT!!! Adrian was quiet and if I was the FO...why not go to the guy who is not bitchin' and take care of him over the 'woe is me' Boldin who probably wants Fitz type money while still in a contract, Warner who seems he wants pay back now in money not for only his limited time as a Cardinal but a Ram as well.
I hope this news is true and a contract extension follows through and I would not mind seeing Wilson welcome McFadden as possible newest Cardinal to the nest at a press presentation...both happy with a contract and their cardinal jerseys.

If the Cardinals were to lose Adrian Wilson I would not root for them anymore.

He is the leader on defense both emotionally and skill wise IMO. He has wanted a new deal, but gone about it in the proper way. But I do agree with Joe that this may just be AZ's way of saying you are #2 on our list behind Warner and not be some silent message to Dockett and Boldin.

One thing I admire from a business sense is that AZ has decided on priorities and value to their players. While they may budge, they will not panic. This is the method the Steelers have been using VERY successfully. However, this only works when you draft well and develop players.

I'm a Rollephile...don't know why. I guess it all started after those three picks returned for TDS against Cincy...and yes, that last return really was a TD damn it! LOL
