That will be a good game.

If it lives up to the season opener from last year it will make for a great game!

I am betting we get a Sunday night game here as well. There is no way the NFL passes on the opportunity to pimp the Super Bowl venue.

It's cool that the Cards are getting the MNF game. However opening on the road... :(

I would have thought the Cardinals would get openers at home for a few years after the crap they were dealt while playing at SDS.

I agree that it's awesome to get a Monday nighter. However I'm not excited that yet again the Cardinals are opening on the road and it's a prime time game.

Makes sense that the Cards get a prime time game--the Bears/Cards game was by far the best of the regular season. Too bad it didn't end better--but this time it will! :koolaid:

I was thinking that too, they owe us a few openers in a row.

Cardinals to Open 2007 Season on Monday Night Football @ SF
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Monday, March 26, 2007

:newcards:

Tempe, AZ – The Arizona Cardinals Football Club will open the 2007 regular season at San Francisco on ESPN’s Monday Night Football as the second game of a nationally televised doubleheader on Monday, September 10 at 7:15 p.m. (MST).

The game will mark the regular season debut of new Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt and also marks the first time in team history that the Cardinals have opened up a season on Monday Night Football.

“It is special to be on Monday Night Football and to get an opening week Monday Night game is particularly exciting,” said Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt. “Playing a strong and talented team like the 49ers right out of the block will certainly be a good early test for our team.”

The Cardinals have played on Monday Night Football 17 times since 1970. Last year the Cardinals hosted the Chicago Bears at University of Phoenix Stadium in the team’s first appearance on MNF since 1999. This year’s match-up with the 49ers will mark the first MNF road game for the Cardinals since the team traveled to Washington to play the Redskins in 1985.

This will mark the second consecutive year that the Cardinals will open the regular season against the San Francisco 49ers. In 2006, the Cardinals opened with a 34-27 victory over the 49ers in the first regular season game to be played at University of Phoenix Stadium.

You know we're going to have one of those flashback segments. "Remember the last time the Cardinals were on MNF?"

Last years home opener against the San Francisco 49ers marked the first time the Cardinals hosted the season-opener at home since they relocated to the Valley in 1988. From 1988-2005, the Cardinals opened each season with a road contest—a stretch of 18 years!

Will it ever end??????????????
