What?
I'm going way out here and predicting a loss for the lambs that crushes their season and sends ours into a destiny.

Epic. I love that attitude. When more of us think like that we will know we've turned the corner.

NFL Bargain Bets: Week 9
October 31th 2008
by Old Man Winner Arizona Cardinals (-3) vs St. Louis Rams

Here I go again . . . taking another road favorite - a pigskin wagerer's worst percentage play! However, . . . . .I LOVE THIS GAME! I also love Denver this week, but we digress!

Quiz question: Indoors on turf who do you take - the finesse team or the physical team?

Why choose? Arizona is both the better finesse team AND the tougher team. Does Kurt Warner like playing in St. Louis? Well, let's see . . .if being the league's MVP there counts, then YES!!! With Warner behind center, an offensive line that is giving him time to look down field, and the best trio of receivers in the league (Fitz, Boldin, and Breaston) this game should be a blowout. I hope the trainer has been carrying tissue all week, cuz I'm sure Warner has been drooling all over the place.

It almost doesn't matter what happens on the other side of the ball. The Rams are going to have to put up a 40 spot to have any chance of winning and they simply don't have the weapons to do it. SJAX is no longer healthy, Avery is no longer a secret, and Holt is no longer a threat. Yes, the Rams have played better for their new coach, but this week their true colors come back into focus. Emotion will only take you so far. This is just not a good football team!

You like stats? How about this one? The Cardinals have covered the spread against the Rams the last five games. It's been over 3 years since the Rams covered. In those five games, the Cards have put up at least 34 pts. four times. Can you say "Ownage"? OOOOwnage!!!

Final: Cards 41 Rams: 27

CARDS 21
RAMMIES 24
If SJ plays & is even 85% i'm fully confident the RAMS take this....otherwise the CARDS will own in St Louis & the RAMS season is essentially over.
I predicted last week that both teams were going to lose, setting up a monster game for both teams.......however like i said,if the RAMS lose this one at home, against the division leader they're done. The CARDS can afford to lose this one in the standings(maybe not in the psyche department) so IMO this is a bigger game for St Louis.
I expect a wildly entertaining but competitive contest with the RAMS getting some HT calls late to set up Josh Brown for the game winner.
If this game were in AZ i wouldn't hesitate to pick the CARDS but they're the CARDS.

Cards v Rams at St.Louis last 3 years passing:

2007 Warner 14/28 190 1TD 1INT: Leinart 7/13 100 1 INT
2006 Warner Did not play: Leinart 15-24-186.
2005 Warner 27-39-285 3TD

I see a repeat of 2005. Also wouldn't mind 2006 when Edge ran 20+ times for over a 100 and the Cards won by 14.

Cards 35
Rams 31

Of course now that's posted bet the under.

The question remains - how long can the Rams play at the emotional level they are playing at. It's usually the case that a midseason fire/hire can raise a teams intensity level. Are the Rams the pathetic bunch they appeared to be in week 1-4, or are they the team that has played extremely well the last 3 weeks. I would venture to say that they are somewhere in between. They will come out fired up on Sunday & it will incumbent upon the Cardinals to respond. I still think the current intensity with the Rams will have to subside some. They are just not that good. Could they beat the Cardinals at home - yes. The Rams will have to play well & the Cardinals will have to play like they usually do on the road.

Rams 31

Boy, I think Pendy has to go!! If the Cardinals finish with the top ranked offense & go 9-7, Pendy will be fired & Whiz will hire someone who knows the Pittsburgh style of D.

Well stated. Not to mention they know they have plenty of time to catch us in the division race, so they are going to play a bit harder than usual. Although that could work against them given their lack of talent and perhaps force turnovers and make poor decisions. We just have to play our game. If we play like we played last week against the Panthers, we should take this game. This is one game we cannot afford to give up.

We dont win early games

We haven't had a tradition of winning any games since the '70s. If we use this line of reasoning we can say...Monday night against 49'ers "We choke on Monday Night Football.", against Seattle "We can't win on the road." etc. etc.

At some point in time the Cardinals have to turn the corner, hopefully it's this season.

Our Defense decides to make a statement; the Offense will have a little more run than we expected once we get up.

With Little hurting and the Rams DBs suspect Haslett has one option, BLITZ and blitz some more. IMO he will try and get in Warners wheel house early on and hope for a Jets game like melt down.
Our answer. RUN and run some more. Ball control O and run stuffing D,the stuff championship teams are made of.
A big day from our version of thunder and lightning Hightower and Arrington, while our underrated D stuffs Jackson like a T Day turkey and WIison returns to form.
All in all lower scoring than expected but a win non the less

Pendergahst is a very good coach, IMO. It would be a mistake to fire him.

As long as we're bumping, one big flukey play and they basically have nothing. Pendy game-planned perfectly.

Gulp. Ditto, my new psychic twin. Yeah, WR Steve Avery. I tried to pick him up in all three of my fantasy leagues. No luck.

Rams 31
Cards 28 (miss two FGs)
Donnie Avery, Steve played for the Braves. :)

Amazing how much better he looks now with NFL caliber players.

Well to be fair, a big part of what many of us have been complaining about is the one big flukey play every game. The break but don't bend defense.

Coverage and tackling much better this week.

A few dropped passes by the opponents always helps as well.

Good teams are lucky teams.

I agree.

When the Cards were bad that ball doesn't bounce off the defenders hands into Urban's. It was intercepted.

When the Cards were bad Warner doesn't pick up the errant snap and lob it to Boldin for a 19 yard gain. It was recovered and run back for a TD by the Defense.

Times are changing.

:yeahthat:

Every season we see a team start to put the pieces in place and take it to another level. It surely feels like the Cards are one of those teams.
