Pretty depressing your 2 1st rounders can't beat him out on the field. VJ had no choice. Simmons was better in year 2, but still got lost in space. Collins flashed a couple of plays, but he also got lost. Say what we will about Hicks being slow, etc, but I shudder to think how much more lousy the defense would have been last year without him.

Everybody gets lost in VJ's defense

This was in my ways to create cap space. This is the first of many dominos to go if they plan on being competitive next year.
im trying to think out loud the next moves. I think they either restructure or cut Jordan Phillips. He is a prime candidate. Hump too.

Cant see Pugh having much security if there is an upgrade available.

I really do think Alford makes it back on a one year deal.

Def seeing Pugh being cut.. barely any dead money there makes too much sense w his poor production. $9mm hello!

Same with Hump, either they are working on a big time restructure or he will be cut as well. Very limited dead money on that bloated $17mm.

I’d love to cut them both go snag Terron Armstrong at LT and draft a interior lineman in the 1st round. Overall would be a massive upgrade and likely cheaper than where that $26mm-$27mm stands today.

From what I've read the Cards have cleared 12 million in cap space between releasing Hicks & redoing Kennards contract. Don't know how true it is.

What!

We're coming off an 11 win season, not 5 and time for a rebuild.

Pugh was top 5 in pass pro at his position this past season, and you won't get that out of a rookie.

New deals that lower the Cap hit of both Pugh & Hump is a much more likely scenario. IMO.
