It’s not like he was malcontent or didn’t put forth effort he was just physically limited in what he was capable of. Sheesh.
I don't know what to say, isn't just about Hicks
So many people starving, without a job or hope for the future and we say thank u to Millionaires, to play sports or acting in a movie

I don’t disagree that society’s priorities are messed up, but that’s capitalism. Supply and demand. And I still thank people for giving me the best they’re capable of.

Seems as though Keim (and every other GM) applied your logic to Reddick last off-season.

...dave
I think that’s a different fact pattern because Reddick’ done season wonder was a season where he was finally moved fulltime to a role in which he excelled. If he had just produced at ILB it would’ve raised a flag to me.

Sure, there are plenty of reasons why every situation is unique. But @BritCard said, "Never, ever...." so my response was intended to temper that absolutism.

Why are you using this for your soapbox?
If you are, doesn't it make it a bit hypocritical that you are supporting a sport that pays millionaires instead of helping those starving people you care about?

That’s fine, but does it have more to do with the Pats winning Super Bowls than, say, having Tom Brady?

The Pats are an outlier and shouldn’t really be used to introduce parallels or counter-examples.

Tom Brady was the ultimate leader and captain holding people accountable.

There's a meme going around now that says Tom Brady was constantly signing contracts that took less money so his team could sign more players around him. The rest of the NFL's QB's are signing these massive deals. Then Brady wins the SB and the other QB's are asking "how does he keep doing that?"

Thank u Jetstream to be a true fun without being rewarded
Hicks got millions and played subpar
I don't get the thanks
you can’t question his effort, dude gave his all. I’ll never fault a player for getting the most he can when he gives maximum effort. Plus he was all class in an embarrassing situation where a draft pick is declared starter without giving him a chance to compete for the job.

He may not have been fast enough and certainly wasn’t Ray Lewis, but he was a leader who played the right way and conducted himself as a true pro.

Different thing. Reddick only played one year at that position.

A one year wonder is someone who has played years at the same position and had one good season (usually in a contract year).

I honestly don't get all the dissing on Hicks. Yeah he wasn't an all pro at his position but he filled it capably, never missed a game in his 3 years here, wore the green dot to call the defense and played to the fullest of his abilities. Despite some shortcomings in his game I never recall him dogging it on any plays. How much worse would this defense have been in 2021 if Collins was inserted in Hicks spot? Considering Hicks played in all 17 games in 2021 he earned his salary unlike two DLine players who gave us half a season and made tons more than Hicks.

Meh, aside from Russell Wilson, most QB’s wives aren’t worth more than the QB. He could have played for the minimum and been just fine.

Also, Patriots let him have his Therapy Center right at the stadium (always seemed like a shady way to compensate him without it counting towards the cap)

Facts. Sports is sports and real life is real life. It's exactly what it's meant to be. A diversion from the real world. It's why people who don't follow football wonder how grown men can cry and break things over a game. Jordan Hicks deserves a tip of the cap at the least.

A friend of ours is Santa for a photography studio in the East Valley and he just posted that he met Jordan Hicks, his wife, and their 3 children recently. Said Jordan was very gracious and spoke fondly of his time here in Arizona with the Cardinals.
