Is he going to be a better coach than Mac? Not a doubt in my mind. Should we see better results? I think we will.

But there are certain guys in sports that I just don't really care for. The way that Green acted in Minnesota soured me on him big time.

So is the future for our team looking better? In wins, probably. But I have to say, I am just not excited. I don't care for Green at all.

Its rough - I will watch the Cards, I want them to win the whole thing.I will never stop being a fan of this team as a whole. I just am not happy about this coach.

I think you fairly well sum up what my feelings are too. Green is not my first choice and I'm still hoping some 11th hour event occurs and we still end up wit Fassel.
If it does indeed turn out to be Green....I have no choice..as a Cardinal fan.....I have to accept it. But I will remain very skeptical. His signing would not be a source of joy for me.
Especially until I saw who he would select as staff. I will hold out to the bitter end......hoping.

He is the real deal. If you get a chance to talk to him in Flagstaff next season, DO IT!

I'm just glad that the front office got off the dime and signed one of the two most experienced HCs available. Green should have good organization.

I don't know that I have anything significant to add here content-wise that hasn't already been said. Still, I want to shout out a huge HOO-AHH to the Cardinals first and foremost for the way they conducted themselves throughout this entire scenario. It just smacks of competence, decisiveness, and strategic thinking. I mean, whether you like Denny Green or not as our next coach, you have to admit it was an efficient, effective firing, search and hiring that transpired here.

Personally, I like Green as a coach. I think the players will like playing for him because he's a player's coach, great X and O guy, with a proven system that is still very relevant in today's NFL. Does Green have some blemishes on his record and on his character? Yes. Does he deserve a second chance? I think so. Clearly Graves and the Bidwills - - who are the NFL poster children for "character counts" - - feel the same.

Here that guys? Jon's excited. He's willing to pass his wife around and we all get a turn with her on the dance floor to celebrate!

There are similarities. Green and Ryan both want their way and will do anything in their power to get it. So, right off that bat I'll clue you into a couple of things that will probably happen.
Emmitt Smith is gone. Green has no problem moving out embedded icons. He did in Minnesota with no head coaching experience and he’ll definitely do it here.
The Josh McCown experiment is probably over, as well. Green likes a certain mold of quarterback (think Warren Moon, Jeff George, Dante Cullpepper).
No more trading down in the draft. Green has a philosophy of taking the best available athlete with his picks. Had he been here last year, that dreadful deal never would have taken place.
Good assistants, proactive personnel decisions, basically everything that the previous administration (including Mr. Graves) wasn't about. I'm excited and that's rare. As I (and Tango) explained earlier, Green moves front office execs out early and often. So those who have built an attachment to this puppet personnel man: Sorry, he's gone. Graves has two years, probably less. Before anyone freaks out, you have to understand that Green's philosophy on personnel is completely different than the plodding Graves. I know they've talked about this great working relationship, but it's just not a match. (Quite frankly I can think of no top name coaches who do think like Graves). With the big contract, everyone in the Cards organization knows who essentially is calling the shots. Graves will find out very soon.
Very good hire and everyone should be excited. I know I am.

Kurt Warner is kind of qb. McCown for Warner? I say hell yeah! And draft Big ben to boot. QB problem solved.

I good-naturedly wrote that you relembled Ned Beatty. I absolutely meant no disrespect. I respect your posts, Jeff. Hope there are no hard feelings. By the way, you're much better looking than Ned Beatty.

SHOCKED and THRILLED!!!

same for cheese. just talked to him (whilst he sits on his deck chair watching beautiful wahines walk past - bastard). he says this is the best day of his life.

the cards continue to astound me (off the field, obviously not on as they fulfilled just about every prediction i had prior to the season). maybe we will trade up for manning . . . maybe i can become a kool-aider . . . maybe it does taste just like chicken . . .

YIPPEE-KA-YA-HAY-KA-YA-HOOOOOOOOOO!!!

The best news in 44 years? You can't be serious. This beats the playoff win in Dallas? The win against the Saints and then the Chargers in the playoff push that same year?

The canning of Buddy Ryan?

Well as much as I don't like Green personally I have to give it up to the Cardinals for locking up their man.

I wasn't at the interviews so I have to defer to their judgement. I won't even put in a but or anything.

Great day for all us fans.

Like him or not the guy does win and Lord knows we all could use that.

No problemo. My comment was intended to be a wry, satirical response to what I took to be some light-hearted ribbing. (Incidently, I tipped the scales yesterday at 236 lbs. (nowhere near Jurecki by any stretch of the imagination, but probably a century lighter than Fergy).

But enough about me.

We've got corroboration. The Official Time to Stop Pecking My Lips Off has officially started. We got Denny!

Now what?

Next thing to zero in on is who will be his assistant coaches.

Another thing I really want to know is what Rod's and Michael's roles will be if the Cards are serious in saying that "Denny will assume greater control of the team's football operations."

And, as a single wing devotee, I wonder if Dennis will steal a page out of his playoff game against us (when he played David Palmer at tailback in a few single wing plays) and install a single wing series or two (i.e. buck lateral, spinner, inside and outside reverses, pass options etc.) with our "slash guy" (Q) at tailback taking the direct snap.

In terms of assessing whether or not this was a great, not-so-great or terrible move by the Cards, I think that's for history to decide.

Denny's track record, gives us good reason to hope he'll, at last, turn things around and bring a consistent winner to the Valley. But it's not a lock. If we're true Cardinal fans hungry for a winner, we'll all be pulling for him (and pulling real hard).

Welcome to the Valley Denny!!!!!!!!!!!!

Green is the right color--

After almost 16 years of loving this woeful team we finally have a REAL COACH, I was silently praying all day for this news and I was driving home when it came on the radio, I almost crashed my car!! Can't wait to see who the assistants will be. Also happy for Buges, he said he had goosebumps this morning when Gibbs called him, he deserves it, this will be a very interesting next season!! Go My Cards!!

I've been a Cardinal fan for 40 yrs, this is truly a great moment. Hiring Green was only possible because enough AZ residents voted YES to a new stadium. Now we have an EXPERIENCED, WINNING HC & a new stadium just around the corner. I really, really believe that this franchise has turned the corner. GOOD TIMES ARE A' COMING!!!!!!

Thats exactly what I was thinking because of the new stadium, we now have more leverage in the coaching search, and landed a whale of a good one. Yea Baby lets get this thing fired up and fill up SDS next year. I do believe that ticket sales will improve next year also. INSTANT CREDABILITY!!!!!!!!
