Macklin is considered short, solid but not real fast and (according to Scouts, Inc.) a bit vulnerable both in turn & go and red zone situations against faster or taller receivers.
This suggests that our opposite corner had better be (a) faster and (b) taller in order to avoid many mismatches.
I believe Starks is on the shortish side. If the Cards have decided not to try Wilson over there, they'll have to look to free agency to land a second corner. (Hint - Bobby Taylor's got nice size).
A Sinister Attempt to Stir Up Trade Talk:
1. If the Cards are beginning to feel cap pressure and decide to sign Taylor or another FA corner, you could see them cutting or trading Starks to free up dollars.
2. The Cards already have 4 pretty good OLB's in Thompson, Fisher, Woods and Hayes. Even just the attempt to sign Rudd suggests a trade is in the offing involving one of our LB's.
I totally disagree.
First off I don't think this team will waste a high draft pick on a safety.
Second, by signing Berry, our Defensive line has gotten much smaller. Therefore we will not be able to keep Offensive linemen off our LB's. Factor in that our LB's are not exactly the biggest guys, we are going to need some depth at that position!
