very happy with the signing and not pushing this another year down the line. hopefully it opens up a little cap room also.

I agree 100%

Locking up a stud pass rusher in his prime. Plus we have another young up and coming pass rusher opposite of him who is under contract for at least another 2 years. Couldn't be happier.

Now we just need a decent #2 corner.

When is the last time we signed someone this quick who we franchised? Honest question, I have no idea.

Since the NFL introduced the franchise tag in 1993 the Cards have been among the teams who have used it the most – nine – but that use has slowed in recent years. The last time the team used it was 2012 on defensive lineman Calais Campbell

, buying time to get Campbell signed to a long-term extension a couple months later.

Before that, linebacker Karlos Dansby was tagged in both 2008 and 2009 before he left as a free agent.

Golden and C Jones feed off one other off the edges.

Plus we're not totally bereft of an outside pass rush should the injury bug strike either one.

If you are the offense who are you going to focus on more? The pro bowler in Jones or Golden?

NFL teams arent fans who only know players by name and reputation. Opponents know Golden is just as dangerous as Jones.

Tony Jefferson is a good example of this concept. The majority of NFL fans probably dont really know him, yet some team is about to make him one of the highest paid safeties, because the teams and NFL do recognize his value

A second look???? That guy is about as proven as you can get a second look just isn't necessary... his track record speaks for itself...

We also had him locked up for 2017 regardless. We were going to pay him to a long term deal whether it were this year or after this year.

Keep your money in your pocket as long as you can. We have now married Chandler long term when we didnt have to. What if chandler blows out his knee this year? We wouldnt be locked to him under the tag. Now we are.

me neither... it's another solid step of progress for the FO.

Man, I wish there was some way to get CC back. I'd have the utmost confidence in the D if that happened. Getting him back, hopefully getting something out Nkemdiche and getting a stud ILB in the draft would make this D pretty damn nasty.

Ok so he goes out and puts up 13 sacks and stays healthy then what??? The price goes even higher with production and inflation... your line of thinking has zero merit... JMO

So you are saying that teams would have game planned the same against 2nd year player Markus Golden as Chandler Jones last year? Golden the previous year had 4 sacks vs Jones 12.5? Sounds logical. :sarcasm:

Now the only question is, of this contract, how much is this season? I am assuming the 16+ Million a season is an average number?

I heard that Jones was going to count 14 million against our cap before the signing. The AZ Sports Crew is assuming that number will go down this season, but they do not have any numbers. At least not when I heard them on the radio.

This also has me thinking then about players like Golden and especially David Johnson... not now, but we better lock down DJ while we can and the price is not inflated yet :)

Did you really say what if he blows out his knee? DUMBEST ARGUMENT EVER. You can say that about every player. Seriously. I have to repeat it, DUMBEST ARGUMENT EVER.
