The Cardinals really need to acquire added depth at edge rusher. They need to give Golden and Jones some timely breathers, if they want them stromg in the 4th quarter.

Games in September and October count at the end of the year unless something changed. Anyone know if the NFL stopped counting September and October games?
Sure they count
I just found those stats interesting so I decided to post them here
I like Chandler Jones but stats can indicate something sometimes

That he's more effective earlier in the season when his body is fresh. Makes sense.

He has only played in 12 career games in November and 1 in January, so those months he is fine... December only bad month

I agree 100%

Locking up a stud pass rusher in his prime. Plus we have another young up and coming pass rusher opposite of him who is under contract for at least another 2 years. Couldn't be happier.

Now we just need a decent #2 corner.

Thursday morning. Not yet a done deal for Chandler but should happen today and free up cap space for this year so Cards can go after some free agents.

Ok so he goes out and puts up 13 sacks and stays healthy then what??? The price goes even higher with production and inflation... your line of thinking has zero merit... JMO

So you are saying that teams would have game planned the same against 2nd year player Markus Golden as Chandler Jones last year? Golden the previous year had 4 sacks vs Jones 12.5? Sounds logical.

Did you really say what if he blows out his knee? DUMBEST ARGUMENT EVER. You can say that about every player. Seriously. I have to repeat it, DUMBEST ARGUMENT EVER.

In financial terms, its risk exposure. The probability of a loss (injury) is consistent every season. Say 30%. So 30% this year, 30% next year, 30% the next, etc. And it steadily increases as players age. So by age 29, that number might 40%.

Anyways, at the same 30% injury exposure, we risk tag 14.5M or 50M guaranteed to let him play in 2017. If your risk is equal, you always choose the lesser exposure.

The 2nd reason being we are losing CC. It is unknown how big of a benefit Chandler experienced playing behind CC. Similar to the relationship being Aldon Smith and Justin Smith in San Francisco. Without Justin, Aldon struggled to create pressure on his own. 1 more year under the tag wouldve given us the opportunity to see if Chandler can dominate without CC or a DL in front of him.

The only argument would be in regards free agency 2018, in which you just resign him then. With Carson and Fitz off the books, we'd be in a strong position to resign him.

Or that teams figure out how to neutralize him as the season goes on. If you look at the Patriots board, they do complain that he can't stop the run and he's a one-trick pony.
