Minter: 85 tackles 3.5 sacks
They are not even in the same league, stats not withstanding. He is the glue that kept that D together after losing Jones and Collins. If you follow any Pats media outlets you will see how much they value the guy. If we values Minter as much we could have locked him up for a song.

CC is as good as gone. The Cardinals reportedly offered him over $10M a year and he turned it down. He is going to cash in during FA. It's time to let him go.

i heard he turned down 10 mil a year.. not saying he should give a hometown discount, but how much more could he really get?

You guys know it's about guarantees/years, not just the average money. A two-year deal at $10M per isn't anywhere near as good as a five-year deal at $10M per year. When the Cards start leaking out contract details, you know the negotiation is over. Good luck, Calais. I hope you end up on the Colts.

If the Pats value him so much, why are they not signing him back? The Pats don't overpay for anyone. I think the scheme is what makes some of these guys successful. They always manage to replace these so called studs fairly easily with the draft or just some random FA.

***UPDATE***

Cards and Jones are finalizing a five year deal. Haven't heard anything about the money yet.

Why is the 'glue' going to see the open market?

If anyone needs a new contract it would be Palmer. He needs to take a pay cut if he's been considering retirement. After all he's no Peyton Manning. Old arms get less money unless you're a HOFer and guess what? He isn't a HOFer.

Good luck telling a guy who has made $150m+ that he deserves a pay cut at this point.

He did make it clear he didn't want to play anywhere else right? Seriously Palmer needs to take a pay cut if we need more room. He has been really good for us for the most part but his pay is rediculous.

And he says 'no'. Then what?

There are plenty of other ways to create space, if needed.

If you expect Palmer to take a cut then Fitz better also. They can just extend an extra year move money out farther to create more room.

Expect deal for #Cardinals DE Chandler Jones to come up a little short of 5-year, $85M deal DE Olivier Vernon received from #Giants in 2016

Nope. The time to Tag a player has already passed. The deadline was March 1st.
So the most we can hope for is that the Chandler deal might be back-loaded and a little cap space could be created which (along with $ that would have gone to CC) could be used to re-sign one or two safeties or pick up a S, RG or WR in the open market?

I'm solid with that deal... hopefully it gives us a little more cap room this season and locks in two very good OLB that we've been desperate for for a while.

I wouldve preferred we wait 1 more year and get a 2nd look at him. Hes a very good player, but Markus Golden arguably outplayed him this year. Is resigning Chandler mean we lose Golden in 2 years?

Ill cheer for Chandler regardless, but I do think he needs to have a more consistent impact on the game
