He's good, but I'd take Lamar Jackson if Mayfield is gone and love it.

Baker is too emotional IMO for the pro game....then again I heard the argument so is Philip Rivers....so I don't know

I'd like either...just please god don't let it be Drew Stanton.

Interesting...last year ESPN's Bill Polian said that he would take A.J. McCarron over any of the QBs in the 2017 draft. McCarron, if he is granted his free agency (on appeal right now), is going to get some pretty heated interest.

That is pretty high praise for Baker Mayfield!! Charley knows his stuff and he loves Baker’s quick feet, delivery, and accuracy.

Interesting to research who he liked the last few years and see if this has merit.

Keim should have learned by now that accuracy trumps physical traits. Football IQ trumps power arm. Hence we play in a dome! Improvizing skill trumps pocket statue. Mayfield should be our target if he somehow slips a bit. Trade up Mr Keim!

And what has Rivers done for SD? Made them a hair above mediocre?

I know a handful of good QB's are guilty of it.... But Rivers is by far the biggest sniveling bitch when WR's run what he perceives to be the "wrong route".

I'm sure the QB is right more times than not, but it doesn't exactly endear yourself to your teammates.

He's just slightly above Cutler when it comes to being a whiny bitch.

Not much in the NFL thus far, although McCarron has played well in his limited action.

He did win 2 National Championships at Alabama and passed very well in big games. I personally think he's better than people think. I think he is very driven to succeed and he has a very high football IQ. Bill Poilian has always been high on him.

You also gotta factor his teams were much more loaded than 95% of the country too, Mitch. I see him as a decent backup, but as a starter? Eh.

aj passed well because at the time nobody could stop Bama's running game.....playing QB is pretty easy when there are always 8 men in the box and your protected by nfl linemen.

You know I was tooting the horn for the Cards to trade for him for the last 2 years Mitch, just like Jimmy G. I loved both coming out of college & wanted them as well.

Personally, I think McCarron is better than the Red rifle in Bungles land & have no idea why they haven’t given the kid more chances. AJ throws a great deep ball.

Every GM in the league would disagree with him. Hell, Sashi Brown disagreed with him that's why he botched that trade.

I understand the feelings about Sam Bradford. But if we sign him (wouldn't be very expensive) and keep our fingers crossed that he can last four or five games, and then play our #1 draft pick, the QBOTF, whoever that is. And if the football gods smile on Sam, our dink and dump, along with a great RB, we'd be in good shape.

The Sashi Brown that was then fired by the Browns, because, among other things, he couldn't complete that trade.

The 6 time NFL Executive of the Year Bill Polian...yeah, he's probably still got some cred and juice in the league...

...and he's been retired since 2011, so the Colts mess is not on him, at all...its 100% on Irsay.

I have always enjoyed listening to Polian in the mornings on Golics show. A little bit different perspective.

Hue Jackson begged Haslam to get him McCarron and they were dumb enough to offer 2nd and 3rd round picks for him. Sashi screwed that trade up intentionally.
Unfortunately I've been a browns fan all my life. Sashi passed on wentz and Watson but he's set Dorsey up to build a great team with a bevy of picks and thankfully Hue didn't waste 2 of them on a backup like McCarron.

From what I could find he wasn't crazy about any of the QBs coming out of the 2017 draft. In 2016 His two favorites were Groff and Wentz. Having a hard time finding info beyond this.

He had Trubisky going 4th and Watson 12th as his top 2 QBs
