This should be a very easy off-season. Trade up and take Mayfield in the 8-10 range with our first, third and fourth rounders this year. Use our second rounder on OG Will Hernandez and our third rounder on a WR. Use the money we saved at QB to sign Norwell or another top guard along with a WR, CB and defensive lineman and we are ready for the season. Both lines are fixed along with our wide receiver corps and number two CB.

Yes, super easy... until the Broncos/Jets, who are desperate for a QB, take him at 5 or 6. Or like this article posits, the Browns take him at #1.

...And then we're stuck holding the bag, desperately having to select Josh Allen or something just so we have a warm body to throw the ball.

Hue Jackson begged Haslam to get him McCarron and they were dumb enough to offer 2nd and 3rd round picks for him. Sashi screwed that trade up intentionally.
Unfortunately I've been a browns fan all my life. Sashi passed on wentz and Watson but he's set Dorsey up to build a great team with a bevy of picks and thankfully Hue didn't waste 2 of them on a backup like McCarron.

You guys have an amazing fan base. Unlike some fans, the Browns love their team but are not ignorant of the rest of the league. As a Cardinal fan, I could always hang with your fan base and enjoy myself. I feel for the current state of your team, but your fans have class Frank... concerning AJ McCarron, the perfect QB for our McCoy offense :)

hey ya never know... all the talk, all the praise,...maybe it shakes things up on draft day and suddenly Sam Darnold is on the board at 15...
If he drops to 15 is he worth it? Something happened.

True but there are 5 quarterbacks that are worthy of being taken in the first round. We will get one of them in the top ten for sure.

absolutely.
just because some GM's got antsy and picked other positions has nothing to do with Darnolds value. The kid is a worthy #1 overall pick.... that doesnt change even if he slides all the way to #32...

aaron rodgers was thought to be #1 overall to the Niners, but they picked alex smith...Rodgers then slid all the way to 24...was Rodgers worth it?

Oaken, I like Mayfield the most but only the pros with a scouting staff have a better idea from a information perspective. I think Mayfield would require a trade to acquire that lofty opinion but I would be more than happy with Lamar at fifteen too... I would not let Lamar slide (yes Solar, I can use the Cousins' pro reason on why he cannot win as with Lamar being in Louisville)

He had Trubisky going 4th and Watson 12th as his top 2 QBs
I just looked and he had Watson 27 and Trubisky 30 in last year's mock. But maybe that was an earlier version. It was his 3.0 mock.

I would be happy with Rudolph at 15. Wasn't big on Mayfield before but he's starting to grow on me. With all of the hype I doubt he's there when we pick though.

Darnold is my top guy because he is the safest pick. Baker Mayfield is a bit of a gamble for various reasons but if I were to trade into the top five it would be for him. I like Lamar....would love to get him in the second but he probably aint going to slide to our second pick...so I might begrudgingly take him at 15 if he were the best QB left.
When the draft gets here I think lots of folks are going to be a little surprised at how some of these guys slide. Baker Mayfield could be the first QB off the board at 5 to Denver...
what do we do if we have Darnold, Rudolph, and Rosen staring us in the face at 15? Out of those three Sam has the best talent but also the least experience... he could really benefit from a year on the bench... Rudolph or Rosen dont have as much upside but could probably start from day 1

I am hit and miss with Rudolph... I like the talent but something about him strikes me Ryan Leafish too.

Josh Allen from Wyoming is growing on me... but dudes mechanics are bad....if that can be fixed his accuracy may come up... but I still think he is a third day QB, he just seems like a really good kid... maybe Josh McCown 2.0??

Rosen strikes me as closer to Ryan Leaf.

lol... I wouldnt touch Rosen with a ten foot pole. There were already questions about his leadership and attitude in school... then I read some things saying he likes to free up his time for his "activism"... no way...keep him miles away from UOP, we dont need that shyte.

Great hindsight. A a ron dropped to 24 because a boatload of scouts thought he was a "system" QB in Jeff Tedford's system.

True.
but that does not change the facts. he was expected to be the #1 overall pick, but he slid to 24..
the question at hand was, if Darnold slides to 15 is he worth the pick? The answer is simply. Yes.

expected to be the #1 by the talking heads. 23 teams passed. Rodgers sat for 2/3 years. Yes he evolved into the best QB in the game for the last 5-6 years. Marino went 27th due to rumors.

Marino had an awesome rookie season didnt he? Would love to be lucky enough for that to happen to us.

Unless the dude is revealed to be a serial killer with a dozen oompa loompas chained up in his basement the day before the draft, if Sam Darnold is on the board at 15 Keim better be running his chubby ass up to the podium with the pick. Because thats a hand delivered gift from God right there.

and of course...if that happens he will blow out a knee in game four...then when he comes back he will break hs throwing shoulder...then when he comes back he will blow out his other knee...such is the life of a Cardinal fan...

screw it..I dont want to see that poo happen to the kid..draft somebody else so he can have the 15 year pro bowl career he deserves..

Accuracy, accuracy , accuracy. Can’t teach it, can’t develop it. Dude has it or doesn’t. We, as Cards fans, have seen it up close and personal. Take the one with consistent accuracy. Don’t gamble on Allen or others hoping to “fix” it. It most likely won’t happen.

Yes it can be taught. It is not in DNA.

He’s Bryce Petty-Landry Jones-Brandon Weeden. Keim should be fired on the spot if he takes him.

This one is the class to draft 2 qb's
Lets go

My dream scenario
Stay put at 15 and getting the freaky qb Lamar Jackson then in round 3 drafting Lauretta and his accurated laser throws
