A source close to the Phoenix Suns shot down a rumored three-team deal that would've had the Bulls landing Bryant, Gordon and the Suns' Shawn Marion going to the Lakers and a package of Tyrus Thomas and other considerations heading to Phoenix.

The Suns source said the team would be interested in discussing such a deal but that Phoenix last talked trade with the Lakers for Bryant some 10 days ago, and the conversation went nowhere.

It looks like it's bogus, but maybe the rumor could pick up steam if the Suns really would be interested. So what would the deal entail? It's difficult, since the Bulls would still have to send out a ton of salary to get Bryant. Unless PJ was signed and traded to Phoenix. Other than that, it's almost impossible. What would have to happen? Well, an 8-1 trade for Chicago.

I highly doubt it. But the crazy thing is, even with all of that talent going out, the Bulls would still probably have the best starting 5 in the NBA:

Kinrich
Kobe
Deng
Noah
Wallace

There isn't a weak link on that starting 5 (although you could make the case that Noah is The Missing Link).

If we traded away Marion and got Kwame and crap in return I would take a steaming dump on Kerr's head.

The Suns have had a hard on for Noah for some time. I am sure that any package would have to have included him.

When I was in LA a week ago I was at a bar talking with some fans.

Most of them were hoping that Kobe goes to Phoenix for some package including Barbosa. They all believe Barbosa is Gilbert Arenas part 2.

Tyrus and Thabo would be very good acquisitions for the Suns.

Kwame is a FA after this season and Duhon is as well (according to hoopshype.com). That would be $12 million off the books and the Suns would still have Tyrus and Thabo under rookie contracts thru 2009-10.

It's obvious that Marion is not going to be a Suns beyond this season. Better to get a good return on the investment now then lose him and get nothing in a few months.

This vastly improves the Suns for the future.

Id rather be in win now mode (which that trade completely obliterates any chances for) and have a future of Stat, Diaw, Barbosa, Strawberry, Tucker, and ATL '08

Only thing I wouldnt flinch regarding a bulls trade would be the ATL and our TE for Noah, and I would still need a day or so to digest and tolerate it.

I understand that sentiment.

But are the Suns' brass in win now mode? By weakening the frontline they've only worsened their chances of beating the Spurs.

Tyrus Thomas gives the Suns a defender inside that the Suns have never had.

Thabo is a solid defender that the Suns tried very hard to get in the draft. Including a rumored Marion trade proposal.

My only concern as a fan is if the Suns wait it out, Marion walks out that door and likely that leaves the Suns empty handed.

Suns make that trade and we WILL NOT win a championship. I am sick of all these media based rumors. The Suns have zero reason to trade Shawn Marion unless your getting equal value in return.

The Suns are not going to trade Marion to make him happy and sacrifice a chance at a title. I guarantee unless the Suns are getting an All-Star caliber person in return for Marion, a trade has ZERO chance.

Any trade involving getting rid of Marion and bringing in Tyrus Thomas gets my stamp of approval. Ideally, I'd like to get Nocioni along with TT, but I'd be happy with Sefalosha and even Malik Allen (or whomever it takes to make the numbers work)....

Nash-Bell-Hill-Thomas-Stoudemire

Barbosa-Diaw-Sefalosha/Nocioni-Banks-Marks-Tucker-Strawberry

Signe me up now!!!

First of all, who has room to sign Marion to 3/60 or anything even close to that, that Marion would even want to play for? He will have to resort to a sign and trade unless he wants to party with the Bobcats.

Chicago Out:
Gordon

Noah
Nocioni
Sefalosha

Chicago In:

Phoenix Out:

Phoenix In:

Lakers Roster

Marion/Walton/Thomas
Odom/Marion/Thomas/Cook
Bynum/Brown/Mihm

Chicago Roster

Bulls trade:
PJ/Noah/Tyrus/Gordon/08 First
Bulls get:
Kobe

Lakers trade:
Kobe
Lakers get:
Marion/Gordon/Banks/08 First

I was looking at RealGm last night and ran across a trade scenario involving these three teams. in the topic it had two possibilities (neither involved Ty Thomas. Here's both that were talked about ......BONUS-NEITHER had us involving the ATL pick!!!

1st:

Bulls get Kobe

Lakers get Marion, Gordon and 2 Chicago 1st rounders

Suns get Nocioni, Noah, Duhon (had to add one to make the deal work--Ty Thomas or Sefalosha according to the CBA)

2nd (Honestly I prefer the 1st one even with Deng-this one doesnt work with the CBA so other tweaking would have to take place):

Bulls get Kobe

Lakers get Marion, Nocioni, Noah, and 1 Chicago 1st rounder

Suns get Deng, Duhon and 1 Chicago 1st rounder.

Here's an idea from ESPN Forum...

Bulls get Kobe

Lakers get Marion, Ty Thomas and Gordon

Suns get Sefalosha, Noah, Deng, and Turiaff

I'd add Suns and Bulls 2nd round picks in 08 to Lakers.

i dont see the Bulls trading Deng/Gordon/Tyrus/Noah/Sefalosha just to get Kobe.

that's practically a starting lineup, and a pretty damn good one in a year or so.

I agree. I just checked the deal with Nocioni instead of Deng and it still works. I think the Bulls would do it then. From what I've read, Kobe wants any deal to keep Deng in Chicago.

If the deal was to involve Deng, I'd add in the Atl pick to Chicago instead of our 2nd rounder. Chicago is giving up a lot.

Maybe even add in Tucker and as much as I'd hate to lose him, but DJ as well.

This was actually reported by Ric Bucher yesterday afternoon. I didn't put much stock into it, so I didn't want to post it here.

Basically, because Marion has asked for a trade, he is going to be included by media trade rumors, especially when a big name (Kobe) is wanting to be traded as well.

I get tired of the Suns being included in all these different trade rumors. I wish Kobe could just go and get this over with. I don't see Marion going anywhere this season.

even Nocioni is too much

if we are looking for salary filler its going to come from PJ. that's the reason he hasnt made a decision yet. who wants to sign with a team for $1mil, when he can make some bank (such as $6-8mil), just be being some salary filler.

thomas, sefolosha, and duhon is hardly crap. i'd consider making that deal. though i'd be loathe to include the hawks pick in the deal.
